Application Procedures (September 2017 Admission)


1. Required Documents

Please refer to the checklist on the next page and ensure ALL required documents are
submitted. Some of the required documents are included in this PDF.
* All signatures and seals must be original.

2. Important points for application

- All submitted documents should be written in English and printed on A4-size paper using
PDF or word-processing software. If documents are written in any other language, it is
necessary to attach an English translation.
- The name and birthday on all documents should be the same as those on your passport.
- Submitted documents will not be returned under any circumstances, even if it is
determined that the applicant dose not fulfill the application eligibilities.
- Ritsumeikan may not accept applications unless all required documents are submitted.
All required documents must arrive by February 3rd, 2017.

3. Application Period

Friday, December 9, 2016 ~ Friday, February 3, 2017

- All documents must be sent by express post (EMS, FedEx, DHL, etc)
- All documents must arrive by the deadline.
- Only posted applications will be accepted.
- Applications by email, fax, or walk-in will NOT be accepted.

Document Checklist:
Form of 1, 2 and 11 are included in this PDF. Please print all documents double-sided.
No. 4, 5, and 6 must be original documents. Documents will be accepted as original if they bear
the original, authorized seal/signature of the issuing agency. (The seal/signature must be
original. Photocopied seal/signature will not be accepted).

4. Letter of Recommendation by the dean, or a person of higher position, at the applicants school
or institution (Must be sealed and addressed to the President of Ritsumeikan University,
Japan) (original)

5. Certificates of completion or certificates/letters stating expected graduation date of programs


and academic degrees awarded by undergraduate or graduate schools (original)

6. Academic transcripts issued by undergraduate or graduate schools attended (to be attached


with a clear indicator, such as GPA or specific rank order.) (original)

7. Summary of thesis written for most recent academic degree awarded

8. Copy of passport page containing the applicants name and date of birth

9. Official Test Score of English Language Ability Test (Score reports must be from one of the
following: TOEIC test, TOEFL iBT test, TOEFLPBT test or IELTSTM. Copies are
acceptable.) * The scores for test(s) taken more than two years before the application start date are
deemed invalid.

10. Three (3) photographs of the applicant (taken within 6 months, 3.0 x 2.4 cm, from the waist up,
full faced, no hats or caps on and including the applicant's name and nationality on the reverse
side, one to be pasted to the designated spot on application sheet)

11. Copy of a document certifying the completion of your payment


(Copy of International Remittance Application and Declaration)

12. For those who graduated from a Chinese (Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau are exceptional.)
university or graduate school or are currently enrolled at a Chinese university or graduate
school the Online Verification Report of HEQC (PDF file) downloaded and printed from the
China Higher-education Student Information (CHSI) website should be submitted.

Application period: December 9, 2016 ~ February 3, 2017


All documents must arrive before the deadline. Please allow sufficient time for delivery.
