Equal Gender Pay

In fact, women should get paid the same as men. Especially, when they have the same

job title as their opposite sex. Women also, do the same quality of work as men. Unequal pay

is unfair to women, considering that their male colleagues salaries are much more. Women

shouldnt be portrayed as minorities or second class. Its ridiculous that us women get looked

down on as not being able to do the job!

For one thing, gender does not determine the capability of the worker. (N.A. 3) That

depends on what kind of person that individual is, and if they are willing to work hard for their

pay. Our Constitution states, that all people are equal, but if women are not getting paid equal

then our nation is not treating us right. (N.A. 2) Even Though, women do the same exact

amount of labor as men. Women are supporting their families as well as the men. (N.A. 4)

Bosses and wealthy CEOs should take in consideration that there are single mothers who are the

breadwinners of their households. Not every household has a male figure, or even, one that is

capable of working.

Theres no doubt that, women make 28% less than their male colleagues. (N.A. 11) For

example, women who are chefs and dentists earn 72 cents for every dollar men in the same

positions earn. (N.A. 10) Top occupations where women earn the least amount of money are

psychologist- 73 cents, pharmacist- 78 cents, and physician- 82 cents. (N.A. 15) Even, when

comparing the sexes with the same job title at the same company and using similar education and
experience, the gender pay gap persists: men earned 2.4% more than women on average.

According, to The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), in 2013, female full-time workers had

median weekly earnings of $706. On the other hand, mens median weekly earnings were

$860.

As a matter of fact, women have jobs that were previously done by men. (Corley 3) For

example, 9.7% of women are doctors, 4.9% of female lawyers, and 18-20% of women are

engineers. The wage gap has consequences for families economic security. (Corley 7) Equal

pay for working women would boost the economy. The gender wage gap affects women of

color, wage gap exists in all racial and ethnic groups. (Corley 2) The gender pay gap affects all

women, but for African American and Hispanic - Latina women, it is a steeper climb.

In contrast, theres individuals who believe that, theres no such thing as gender pay

gaps. For example, the gender pay gap is just a myth, and that theres research that proves it.

(N.A. 5) There is no country in the world where women earn less than men. (N.A. 1) In reality,

in the United States women do obtain less than men. Sexism doesnt occur in the workplace.

(N.A. 2) By all means, sexism does transpire in the workplace, because women are less likely to

be promoted at their work.

In addition, humans and men themselves are convinced, men are better at work. Men

are always working, theyre rarely absent. On the other hand, women take a leave of absence to

give birth or to raise their children. (N.A. 3) Theres too many risks of hiring women. (N.A.

6) Chances of pregnancy or injuries are a few concerns of women in the workfield. Some may

even, say that men are capable of doing a better job. (N.A. 2) But, gender does not define ones

work capability.
In conclusion, women should get paid equally as men. Your sex does not define your

capability of work. Women make 28% less than their male colleagues, no matter their education

levels or job titles. Women have jobs that were previously done by men, such as doctors and

lawyers. Theres folks who believe that, theres no such thing as gender pay gaps. Theres

even, an enormous amount of people and men who are convinced, men are better at work.
