The survey was undertaken by Mr. Angus Corry, his work is underwritten by Personal
Indemnity Insurance provided by British Marine with indemnity limit of 250,000.
The yacht is constructed of GRP having bonded in frames, bulkheads, stringers and
lockers to give her stiffness.
Hull External:
Above the waterline, the GRP hull is in satisfactory however there are some light
abrasion marks probably caused by fenders and minor collisions.
Below the water line moisture readings were taken and are good.
No osmotic blisters were found however this does not precluded their development in
the future.
Recommendations: Polish the hull above the water line to remove the abrasions.
Hull Internal:
The interior of the hull is lined and in good condition, where the hull could be seen
through the lockers it appeared to be satisfactory.
Recommendations: Monitor for water leaks from any skin fittings, refitting and
sealing where necessary.
2 Keels
Recommendations: None.
3 Deck
The decks are painted and in a satisfactory condition with some minor cracking and
damage consistent with age.
4 Deck Joints
The deck joints are covered by wooden rubbing strake; where they could be seen
these are in good condition.
Recommendations: None.
The stainless steel pulpits and push pits feel firm and satisfactory.
The Genoa tracks, cars, mooring cleats and fairleads appear in good condition.
The mainsheet traveller is mounted on the transom; the fittings are firm and sound.
Recommendations: None.
6 Toe-Rails
Recommendations: None.
7 Grab rails
Recommendations: None.
8 Stanchions/Guardrails
There is one GRP Houdini style hatch in the fore cabin roof; this does not appear to
be leaking.
The main hatch is made up of two washboards and a sliding GRP hatch.
These are all in good condition.
The ports in the heads and fore cabin are in good condition appearing water tight.
Recommendations: Repair the starboard winch and service the winches regularly.
The yacht has a moulded cockpit with wooden grating draining overboard. The
grating is in reasonable condition.
The sole hatch covers the engine bay, stern gear and fuel tank.
The hatch seals are worn.
The engine Morse and engine controls are on the forward side of the cockpit below
the main hatch.
A transom locker contains the bilge pump, kedging anchor and gas bottle.
The lid and hinges are in good order.
Recommendations: None.
The chain plates are secure with no stress cracks around the mountings on the coach
roof.
Recommendations: Replace the standing rigging and bottle screws when considered
10 years old however monitor for signs of wear or fatigue.
Replace the rigging screw.
15 Running Rigging
16 Sails
The main sail, No2 and storm jib are in reasonable condition.
The Genoa with a UV strip appears in satisfactory condition.
The stitching on all the sails is satisfactory.
17 Engine
The gearbox, coupling and stern gland are all in good condition.
The stern tube and cutless bearing are also good.
19 Fuel Systems
A steel fuel tank is in under the cockpit sole; this is well secured with the shut off
valve being good.
The fuel filter is easy to reach with the filler in the sole of the cockpit.
Recommendations: None.
All the heads Blakes skin fittings and sea-cocks are in satisfactory condition.
The heads discharge hose is not connected to the valve.
The sink ball valve and skin fitting are satisfactory although has only one jubilee clip.
The sea water rinse valve and skin fitting are satisfactory with two jubilee clips
The engine seawater intake ball valve and skin fitting are also satisfactory with two
jubilee clips.
The cockpit drains go through ball valves and skin fittings to port and starboard, these
are satisfactory with two jubilee clips
Recommendations: Place double jubilee clips on all the hoses that have one clip.
Re-connect the heads discharge valve.
Carry softwood bungs for all the sea-cocks.
Open and close all valves monthly to prevent seizure.
A manual pump is fitted in the transom locker. The outlet skin fitting for this pump is
on the transom above the water line.
One anode is on the starboard side of the hull; this anode is satisfactory, with the
engine bonded to it.
23 Electrical Installations
A battery box is located under the quarter berths; the strapping is poor with the battery
missing.
The 12v power breaker panels are located on the port side of the boat on the aft
bulkhead.
The lighting in the saloon, fore cabin, and heads were tested and working.
Equipment listed below was inspected visually and not powered on.
Steering Compass

Recommendations: Carry the appropriate navigation equipment for the grounds you
are cruising.
25 Accommodation
The accommodation comprises of a main saloon, galley, fore cabin, two quarter
berths and heads.
There are some bolts protruding into the forepeak from the ports; these are a possible
hazard.
The saloon windows and hatches are all in good condition with no apparent leaks.
The upholstery and woodwork in all of the yacht is in a good condition for a boat of
this age.
A stainless steel water tank is in the fore cabin under the bunks; this is well bonded to
the hull.
A two-burner hob and grill are located in the galley. The flexible pipe is over a metre
long.
The gas bottle regulator and valve is fitted in the aft locker; the locker is not self
draining.
The gas bottle is not secure.
The flexible hoses appear in satisfactory condition although there is no date stamp on
them.
The inspection of the gas system is limited to a visual external inspection without
dismantling or testing. Guidelines for the correct installation should be sought
from a Gas Safe Registered engineer from 1 April 2009.

Recommendations: Carry enough and relevant safety equipment for all the crew on
board and the proposed use of the vessel. Check recommendations in the RYA Boat
Safety Handbook. ISBN: 9781905104383.
A CQR anchor and chain are on the foredeck with the rest of the chain located in the
chain locker; this chain is not secured to the boat.
31 Miscellaneous Equipment

All the above appear satisfactory.
Recommendations: None.
32 Summary
If the defects are repaired and a programme of regular maintenance is carried out the
yacht could provide her owners with many years service.
A fair insurance valuation value would be in the region of 4,500. When the work is
complete the value will be in line with yachts of its type.
