GENERATION OF ELECTRICITY FROM FAN

USING DYNAMO

PROJECT SUMMARY:-

We use two types of Fans:-

1. AC Fans 2. DC Fans

Both Fans involves transformation of Electrical Energy to Mechanical Energy.

Mechanical Energy is being wasted.

In our project, we will use this rotating mechanical energy to rotate Dynamo
Generator, which will transform Mechanical energy to Electrical energy.

The electrical energy (from Conventional Electric Supply) consumed in running

the fan would be recycled, as output of Dynamo Generator can be stored in a
battery. This battery can be further used, through inverter (in case of AC
requirement) or directly (in case of DC requirement) for enlightening of Bulbs
(LEDs can be preferred) and for running the same fan to which dynamo
generator is attached, if required, during power cut. During power cut, battery
will keep on recharging if fan would be running.

Electrical Energy (from Solar panels) is first stored in battery and then this
energy is used further. But when we use this battery in running the fan, battery
starts to discharge fast. So, because of dynamo generator, that battery would
keep on recharging. In this way, electrical energy, which has been transformed
to mechanical energy would be recycled to electrical energy and can be used for
the same fan, and can also enlighten bulbs, by storing in battery. Electrical
energy consumed in running the fan can be overcome by this method.
TECHNICAL DETAILS:-

Introduction:

Fans, we are using these days, consumes electrical energy which is

transformed to mechanical energy and fan starts to run. Mechanical
energy due to rotation of fans rotor is not of use. That is being wasted.
We will use this mechanical energy to rotate Dynamo Generator, as we
know that the dynamo uses rotating coils of wire and magnetic fields to
convert mechanical rotation into a pulsing direct electric current through
Faradays law of induction. This can be stored in battery. In this way, we
can recycle the consumed electrical energy.
Origin of proposal and Definition of Problem:

In Rural and Sub-urban areas, people often face lack of electricity and
power cut. Generally, they solve their electricity requirement by installing
solar panels and expensive inverters. Even after this, when they run their
fans, they always need to worry about charge of battery. If we can solve
the problem of discharging of battery during use of fan, by that fan only,
it would be less expensive than installation of one more solar panel or
inverter.

Objective:

By using this principle, we are actually using rotational mechanical

energy of fan, which was not of use, to generate electricity through
dynamo generator to provide continuous electricity. People can even use
fans in day time without any worry of charge of battery and can also
enlighten their house. As many numbers of fans would be running, as
many dynamo generators would be generating electricity and accordingly,
as many batteries would be keep on charging. So, problem of lighting in
night of a whole house can be solved even after cool day (because of
running fans).

In rural areas, where only sunlight is the source of electricity, running fan
with dynamo can act as source of energy. Sunlight is available for day
only. This fan will always be available.
METHODOLOGY:-

Layout of work element:-

On the basis of our need and desired outcomes, we will divide the work in small
parts. It will show the overall face of project.

Design of components:-

After determination of layout, we will design some of the components

shown in above following diagram as per our need.

Marketing survey and cost estimation:-

To determine approximate cost of the project we will make a market survey.

And then total expenditure of project will be estimated.

Optimum selection of component:-

After marketing survey components will be selected in a manner to be more

efficient at the least possible cost.

Assembly of components:-

Components will be assembled and fabricated in mechanical workshop

manually.

Testing of project:-

Assembled system will be tested to check whether it is working perfectly and

efficiently or not before the final presentation.

SUBMISSION OF PROJECT
Organization of work elements:-

Lay out of system will be determined in a manner that the system becomes as
compact as possible. Some components might require to be designed, so we will
design them as per our need. One survey will be done to estimate the overall
cost of project. After market survey, items will be selected so carefully that
project efficiency will remain maximum and cost of project can be minimized.
Then system will be assembled in workshop and system will be tested further
before final presentation.

Time Schedule:-

S.no. Proposed work Proposed time

1. Designing of layout plan 1 week

2. Study and Designing of components 3-4 weeks

3. Market survey and cost estimation 1 week

4. Optimum selection of components 1 week

5. Assembly as per layout 4 weeks

6. Testing of system 2 weeks

7. Report writing 1 week

Total 13-14 weeks approx.

Proposed outcomes and its utilization:-

Energy recycler fan will act as alternate energy source for solar energy storage
battery or for inverters battery. With the help of this fan, rural and sub-urban
people can use fans for their comfort and this would also help in enlightening of
house, as it would overcome the consumed electricity in running their fan.

Those areas, where electricity supply is present but families, who cannot afford
inverters, can use these fans for charging batteries and use them during power
cut. Running of this fan would keep on recycling the consumed energy. This
makes it one of the most promising of the alternate energy sources for rural
and sub-urban societies or for the families, who cannot afford inverters. It is an
clean source of energy as it doesnt require any kind of external fuelling.
Second, it is free and will be available for all the time when fan would be
running. Our project is going to make remote area people able to use fan for
their comfort without any worry of discharge of their solar energy storage
batteries and without expanding any additional cost.

The proposed working model can be modified on a large scale by installing

energy recycler fans in every room of a house and further in every house of a
village or town. The project is going to help mankind by reducing dependency
on kerosene oil for enlightening and hence reducing the emission problems and
contribute in reduction in global warming problem.
