Reflection on Day 03: Justinian and Theodora

1. Regrouping: Since the grouping did not work well yesterday, I made the students draw

lots. Before that I told them to not mind and to accept whoever they would be with. They

drew the lots and they accepted the result even though they did not seem to like it.
2. Think-pair-share:
I personally liked the class that I was teaching because they like to talk, discuss, and ask

questions very much (they were only few quiet students). I did not have to worry about

class participation. For today lesson, I prepared a handout about the Emperor Justinian

and the Empress Theodora. I told the students to read individually at first and then, share

it with their partner next to them. I provided guiding questions for them to answer as a

group. They discussed the answers with their partner again. In this case, I forgot about

how they loved to talk a lot and it made the whole class a bit noisy. It took a little longer

to make them quiet and to keep them on track. Next time if I had a chance to teach this

lesson one more, I would try to know my students first. Then, I would ask them to work

more individually and class discussion would follow up.
