d. Introduction: Hemodialysis is a treatment of choice for patients with Chronic
Kidney Disease (CKD). This procedure restores and brings CKD patients into its
homeostatic state. However, many hemodialysis patients experience adverse
effects which are inevitable. If anticipated, prompt nursing intervention will be
provided.
Objective and Purpose of the Study:
The study determined the responses kidney failure patients to hemodialysis
treatment as to physiological, emotional, social, intellectual, occupational and
spiritual dimension. It also correlates the six dimensions of wellness and
demographic variables.

e. Methods and Design: This is a descriptive, correlation study includes 60 kidney

failure patients from two public hospitals in Metro Manila.
Sampling Technique: Purposive sampling
Statistical Treatment: A descriptive analysis was used for the demographic data.
Mean scores were utilized to express the level of responses of the patients in each
dimension of wellness. Pearson moment was utilized to correlate the six dimensions
of wellness and demographic variables. The level of significance was set at 0.05.

Data Gathering Overview: A survey questionnaire was utilized to gather

responses. Data were encoded and analyzed using Microsoft Excel and Statistical
Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) version ___
f. Results and Findings:
Many hemodialysis patients experienced high blood pressure (x=3.49), have
difficulty in understanding (x=3.05), they feel adequately safe when at home alone
(x=3.67). They ask for help from family or friend (x=3.89) especially during period
of emotional distress. Most of them trust God and they can overcome their situation
(x=4.10) and expressed that they need frequent rest for a while (x=3.49).
There is no significant relationship between the six dimensions of wellness and age,
gender, religion, educational attainment, occupation, income, and length of time of
hemodialysis treatment. Moreover, there is no significant relationship between six
dimensions of wellness to individual dimension except between spiritual and
emotional, and physical and occupational dimensions.

g. Conclusion:
Regardless of the demographic profiles of CKD patients, the responses of six
dimensions of wellness were not affected. This suggests that patient had already
adapted to the adverse effects of hemodialysis.

Recommendation: It is suggested to innovate nursing care management

guidelines to provide holistic nursing care using the six dimensions of wellness.
