Special Interests
I am CPR certified and I keep the certification up to date.
I have experience in administering the Phonological Awareness Literacy Screening (PALS) with kindergarten
students. The practice with the screening has made me confident in the ability to score accurately and to be able
to accurately analyze the results in order to start my instruction where it best fits each individual student.
I have completed a Digital Citizen Professional Development course. I understand how to bring technology into
the classroom in a safe, educational, and fun way!
I have knowledge with Assistive Technology which is huge in the classroom. The technology ranges from low
technology which is what can be made all the way to high technology which is what can be ordered. It is
important to look at the student first and then the task in order to pick the best technology that would fit their
need.
I am a member of the Virginia Student Reading Association which offers me several opportunities for
Professional Development in order to continue my ongoing learning as an educator. The Association also
connects me with teachers in the field that I continue to learn and grow from.
I can play the Clarinet and will bring music in the classroom as much as I can!
