Philip and the Eunuch

Acts 8.26-40
26
Now an angel of the Lord said to Philip,
(A.This proposal pleased the whole group. They chose Stephen, a man full of faith
and of the Holy Spirit; also Philip, Procorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas, and Nicolas
from Antioch, a convert to Judaism. Acts 6:5.
B. Leaving the next day, we reached Caesarea and stayed at the house of Philip the
evangelist, one of the Seven.Atos 21.8.) "Go south to the road the desert road
that goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza.". (First The order)

So he started out, (The answer) and on his way he met an Ethiopian eunuch, (Why
did not Luke say the name of the Eunuch? Just Eunuch! TMI) an important official
in charge of all the treasury of the Kandake (which means "queen of the
Ethiopians"). (It was someone important). This man had gone to Jerusalem to
worship, (How?! He was a eunuch. Deuteronomy 23:1 No one who has been
emasculated by crushing or cutting may enter the assembly of the LORD.) 28 and on
his way home was sitting in his chariot reading the Book of Isaiah the prophet.

The Spirit told Philip, "Go to that chariot and stay near it." (Second Order)

Then Philip ran up to the chariot (The answer), and heard the man reading Isaiah
the prophet. "Do you understand what you are reading?" Philip asked. " (But the
Spirit does not command him to ask anything! Connect the dots. There are many
Christians who want a map saying step by step what they will do.)

"How can I," he said, "unless someone explains it to me?"
A. for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." How, then, can
they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one
of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching
to them? And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: "How
beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!" Romans 10:13-15
B. We already were ordered to go. And it was Jesus who gave this order to all of us.
Matthew 28 and Acts 1.
So he invited Philip to come up and sit with him.
A. When the Pharisees saw this, they asked his disciples, "Why does your teacher
eat with tax collectors and sinners?" On hearing this, Jesus said, "It is not the
healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. But go and learn what this means: 'I desire
mercy, not sacrifice.' For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners."
Matthew 9:11-13)

This is the passage of Scripture the eunuch was reading: "He was led like a sheep
to the slaughter, and as a lamb before its shearer is silent, so he did not open
his mouth. 33 In his humiliation he was deprived of justice. Who can speak of his
descendants? For his life was taken from the earth." 34 The eunuch asked Philip,
"Tell me, please, who is the prophet talking about, himself or someone else?" 35
Then Philip began with that very passage of Scripture and told him the good news
about Jesus.
A. he was not only there, but probably told other parts of what he had heard about
Jesus.
B. "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be
my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the
earth." Acts 1.8
C. He did not announced a religion or denomination or theological current, but
proclaimed the Gospel: Jesus.
D. "Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You travel over
land and sea to win a single convert, and when you have succeeded, you make them
twice as much a child of hell as you are. Mathew 23.15.)

As they traveled along the road, they came to some water and the eunuch said,
"Look, here is water. What can stand in the way of my being baptized?" 37 And Philip
said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said,
I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. (KJV). 38 And he gave orders to stop the
chariot. Then both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water and Philip
baptized him.
A. If you declare with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that
God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you
believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and
are saved. As Scripture says, "Anyone who believes in him will never be put to
shame." For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile the same Lord is
Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, for, "Everyone who calls on the
name of the Lord will be saved." Romans 10:9-13
B. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the
Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything
I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the
age." Matthew 28:19-20)

When they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord suddenly took Philip
away, and the eunuch did not see him again, but went on his way rejoicing.
(Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: [^1] The old has gone,
the new is here! All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ
and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to
himself in Christ, not counting people's sins against them. And he has committed
to us the message of reconciliation. We are therefore Christ's ambassadors, as
though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ's behalf:
Be reconciled to God. 2 Corinthians 5:17-20)

Philip, however, appeared at Azotus and traveled about, preaching the gospel in
all the towns until he reached Caesarea.
Atos 8:26-40
So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith, for all of you who were
baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor
Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in
Christ Jesus. Galatians 3:26-28

according to his eternal purpose that he accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord.
In him and through faith in him we may approach God with freedom and
confidence. Ephesians 3:11,12

Peter replied, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus
Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

I don't like believers (religious people), denominations, religious and sometimes

pastor.
I have a dream ... to be a church for those who dont like church, but also a church
to whom the church doesnt like.

1. We Proclaiming the Good News: Jesus.

Then Philip began with that very passage of Scripture and told him the
good news about Jesus.

a. What do we Proclaim? Religion? denomination? Rules? Yes and no?

But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than
the one we preached to you, let them be under God's curse! As we have
already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other
than what you accepted, let them be under God's curse! Galatians 1:8-9

(I have a serious problem: I'm not traditional, Pentecostal, liberal or neo-

Pentecostal. I'm just a Christian. I am accused by Pentecostal and traditional
friends to believe different from what they preach.)

"Teacher," said John, "we saw someone driving out demons in your name
and we told him to stop, because he was not one of us." "Do not stop him,"
Jesus said. "For no one who does a miracle in my name can in the next
moment say anything bad about me, for whoever is not against us is for us.
Mark 9:38-40

(That's what the religious thought does. They want to turn everyone into a
standard, the same way. THE religion of the consequences (Talking Lady
episode who died in pencostal church, the church that Cesar was ... She is in
the heaven now.)

b. The message is simple: Jesus came, died and rose again and paid our debt
with God.
When you were dead in your transgressions and the uncircumcision of your
flesh, He made you alive together with Him, having forgiven us all our
transgressions, having canceled out the certificate of debt consisting of
decrees against us, which was hostile to us; and He has taken it out of the
way, having nailed it to the cross. Colossians 2.13-14
 (Talk about Jesus through the testimony of what he did in your life. It is easy,
Tell them How your life was before and after Jesus. (feelings, focus, desires,
actions) Call people that can show this. Piece of cake.)

2. We Proclaiming the Good News for all kind of people.

a. The best definition of evangelism that I have ever heard. Charles Richard
said "Every heart with Christ, a missionary; every heart without Christ, a
mission field."
b. What kind of church will we be?
(For what kind of nationality? For what kind of ethnicity (race)? To what
age?)
c. Be prepared to hear and do God's will, even if it makes you out of your
comfort zone.

3. We Proclaiming the Good News that transforms lives.

a. "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you
rest.Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble
in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my
burden is light." Matthew 11:28-30
We do not create rules, we follow Jesus and walk together learning to please
him
