Objectives of the Experiment
1. To be able to determine to determine the pH of different facial wash, analyze the
content of the sample using potentiometric measurements.
2. To be able to identify if there are any heavy metals present in the facial wash
samples through AAS.
3. To be able to report the amount of salicylic acid, glycolic acid, and other active
ingredients in the samples using spectrophotometric technique and UV/VIS.

Scope of the Design project

This project aims to be able to analyze different samples of facial wash using

the technique and methods provided in the analytical chemistry 2 laboratory, with

the use of Potentiometer, UV/VIS, AAS it is expected that the objectives will be

met. The Experimental approach for the design project will be partly based on the

manual provided in the course and partly based through different articles regarding

analytical chemistry analysis for different apparatus. This Projects aims to be

finished at the 8th to 9th week of this term, The Samples that will be used for the

design project would be provided by the researchers and the reagents that will be

used would be borrowed from the laboratory assistant. This study only limits to the

analysis provided by the Laboratory instruments inside the institute.

Brief Background of the study

Facial wash has been a part of almost every human in their daily lives. Using

Facial wash as their cleanser, to treat their acne. The general purpose for skin

cleansing is to reduce sebum and exogenous contaminants and to control odors and

the skin microbiome. The surfactants in cleansers solubilize hydrophobic materials

into the aqueous phase and enable their subsequent removal from the skin surface.

This study aims to give more additional source materials providing different

studies regarding the analysis of facial wash using different instruments such

UV/VIS, Infrared Spectroscopy and others.

Experimental Design

Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy, UV/VIS, Potentiometer

Preparation of samples

- Different facial samples would be prepared by the researchers possibly 5 or

more this would provide more analysis regarding the study.

- Samples would be bought through supermarkets or malls

Analysis of the samples

- Samples would be subjected to different laboratory apparatus which are

provided in the laboratory.

- UV/VIS, Infrared Spectroscopy and Potentiometry are the main analysis

focused on this study.

- Each analysis of the sample would be provided by a Statistical analysis

regarding the results of the experiments

Data and Results

- Data would be tabulated in the table and results would be provided with

related theories regarding the results of the experiment

- Statistical analysis would be shown throughout all data in the experiment
- A written report would be provided after the experiment has been conduct
