Professional Goal
Goal #1: Develop and organize a
binder of word work lesson plans
(and ready to be used materials)
for use during small groups.
Goal #2: Develop knowledge on
accountable talk and how to
implement it in a kindergarten
classroom.
Why the goal is important to
me
Word work during guided reading
groups is important for literacy
achievement. I need to be more
thoughtful and better organized
in planning their word work
lessons, rather than scrambling
to gather materials in order to
keep up with my plans.
I understand accountable talk
encourages student centered
learning to take place and
promotes relevant discussions
amongst peers. However, I am
unsure of how to implement this
with my kindergarten classroom.
How I will document/provide
evidence that I am working
on this goal
Binder will show evidence of word
work lesson plans and materials
organized by month for a 9
month school year. By check in
date (week 7), I will have 4-5
months of plans and materials
created and organized. By part 2
date (week 14), I will have all 9
months of word work plans and
materials created and organized.
Binder/Folder with research on at
least 3 accountable talk
strategies (pertaining to kinder)
to be done by check in date.
Then pick at least one to
implement with my students and
provide notes/insights to be
included in binder/folder by part
2 date.
