COMMENTS: (strengths, areas for growth, next steps):

Paige has had a successful Practicum at Sir William Mulock Secondary School! Her placements in both
Student Success and Geography have been both beneficial to her and the Mulock community.

Paige is a true advocate for the students. She has worked consistently to provide interesting and relevant
lessons for both classes. She has used a variety of on-line tools and Apps for her lessons and reviews
including the use of Kahoot, Padlet, Polleverywhere, Instagroc, Gamechanger, Word Cloud, and a Jeopardy
game. Paige taught a full unit on Community Action in the grade 12 program and a shorter 2-week unit on
Backpacking on a Shoestring in Travel & Tourism. In both classes lessons were well-paced, interesting and
very relevant. Students were engaged in the learning and participated enthusiastically in the Travel
Summative which was a round-robin sell-your-trip activity. The grade 12 class provided Paige with several
challenges that she met with enthusiasm. It is recommended that Paige continue to find strategies to sustain
student engagement during lessons, as the inevitable distractions of the cell phone and computer present a
constant challenge to classroom management.

Paige successfully taught all lessons in the grade 12 program. This included a unit review, unit test and
assessment of the test. She also created an engaging summative for the unit that included the preparation of
an assessment rubric. Assessment of the final product was completed using Google Docs. Paige provided
timely feedback on all her summative evaluations. She also successfully navigated TeachAssist to record
daily attendance, upload student marks and track student success.

Paige utilized Google Classroom with the Grade 11 Travel & Tourism class. Lessons were uploaded to the
classroom for daily use. Each day, full agendas were shared with the class through Google Docs. Paige
should continue to work on the challenge of being preparing for and meeting the needs (lesson resources) of
all these activities prior to the lesson. It is recommended that Paige continue to practice consolidation with all
her lessons upon completion.

Paige found the pace of teaching challenging and was unable to participate in other school community
projects. She has many personal interests and I am certain she would be able to share these with students
given future opportunities.

Paige spent time in personal reflection through journaling and ongoing discussions with the Associate
Teacher. Through these observations, we were able to discuss many strategies for teaching and consider
the variety of needs of our learners. It is recommended that Paige be open to and consider the constructive
feedback provided for her benefit.

In summary Paige has provided a valuable learning opportunity for our students. She is an enthusiastic
educator who cares about the students and their success. The Geography Department appreciates her
contributions and wishes her success in her pursuits.

STUDENT SUCCESS EVALUATION

Commitment - Exemplary
Paige Tyler has been a part of the Student Success classroom for the last five weeks. She has been a full
participant in my classroom from her very first day. Paige often offered to come during her lunch period to
give extra help to students. She also attended a guidance appointment as an advocate for an ELL. Yesterday
several students commented, I wish you could just stay.

Knowledge Proficient
Paige was asked to teach students outside of her area of expertise. She worked hard to brush up on her
math skills, so that she could clearly explain new concepts, and in so doing modeled good problem solving
skills for the student.

Teaching Practice Exemplary

Teachers in student success work one to one with students and have to be very flexible as we serve students
in all grades and at all levels. Paige was able to adapt her teaching style to many different students including
ELL, Academic, Applied and Workplace. She needs to be sure to not let students distract her from her
teaching.

Professionalism Exemplary
Paige was always punctual and ready to get down to work with students as soon as she entered the room.
Her enthusiasm for completing work with students helped to keep them motivated and conveyed the
message that the learning mattered.
