Womens March: The Largest Inaugural Protest in
the US History
Millions of people around the world stood up for womens rights on
January 21, 2017 during the Womens March which became one of the
largest globally coordinated marches ever. It received a response of over
4 million people marching across United States and around the world.
Many well-known celebrities also attended the march and spoke up about
the importance of standing together. However, among those who are
marching, there are still those who are not particularly in favor of a march
for equality.
In an ideal world, the person being elected for the President of the
United States is meant to be a highly qualified politician. One who
actually knows what he or she is getting into. But then there is the reality
that we are in now, which is so far from that ideal that we had hoped for.
It is a reality where a highly qualified politician lost the presidential
election to a less than mediocre businessman who is currently being sued
for sexual assault. That alone is enough reason to hold a march for
equality. You see, little things add up. They always seem small until you
put them together. If we do not fight for the little things then why bother
with fighting at all?

The Womens March was a protest intended against the President of

the United States Donald Trump, but it turned out to be a whole lot more.
It became about empowering women and showing everyone that women
are capable of being powerful. It became a gathering that celebrated
diversity and tolerance.

In solidarity, the people all around the world supported LGBTQIA+

communities, the Black Lives Matter campaign, immigrants, all religious
faiths, environmental issues, and rallied against hatred, ignorance,
sexism, racism, ageism, homophobia, transphobia, biphobia, body-
shaming, slut-shaming, prejudice, discrimination of all kinds, patriarchal
conditioning, and the backwards expectations of what a woman should
be. These examples are just the tip of the iceberg and each marcher had
their own issues to speak out about.
While we may all have four dark years ahead (US citizen or not), this
controversy has united so many demographics and shown us how
powerful we can be when we stand together. Women have become
especially connected through these past months taking to every social
media platform to encourage others and spread awareness. Now more
than ever, women are standing up for the rights that women before us
fought so hard for. Our rights were not given, they were earned, and that
makes them all the more valuable.

For one, this is not just about a national issue. It is all about coming
together with dignity and strength to send a powerful message that
screams we will not stop until we are heard. We will continue to make
history in the next few years because we, as a society, cannot continue to
let bigoted people take power and decide what is right for us.
