Pismo State Beach offers all kinds of attractions: hiking, swimming, surf fishing, and digging for the
famous Pismo clam. The park has the largest over-wintering colony of monarch butterflies in the U.S.
Pismo is also the only beach in California where the sand is firm enough to support travel by standard
highway automobiles, and where this activity is permitted.
