How can we get to where we want to be?

How will we implement?
How will we evaluate our efforts?
Is what we are doing making a difference?
How will innovative practices and spaces be established so that students own the learning?
How are we creating well-rounded students? (Communicators, problem-solvers, collaborators, innovators, growth mindset,
perserverant, ask and engage with essential questions, are skilled at and have high levels of knowledge in a variety of content
areas?)
Stages of Implementation
Literacy
Cheryl will have SMART goals ready for you to copy and paste here.
(Overall Reading) The percentage of all students enrolled October 1st in grades ___ at ___ School who are proficient on the ____ will
increase from ___% in 20__ to ___% in 20___.
(Achievement gap)

Which actions will the leadership team take throughout the course of the school-year to ensure the listed instructional practice
is implemented faithfully and effectively?

read/discuss/implement practices and strategies from a book/article)

Roles and Responsibilities

Principal - What is my role as an instructional leader to ensure this instructional practice is implemented, teachers are
supported, and data and staff actions are monitored consistently to make any needed adjustments? How will I ensure staff
meetings, professional learning days, and all other staff support time are maximized to support staff in this area? How will I
receive the honest feedback I need to improve?
AP - What is my role as an instructional leader? How will the communication flow look between me, the principal, and the staff
to be sure work flow is in place?
Instructional Leadership Team - How will the leaders on this team serve as change agents to build a healthy school climate,
rigor, Growth Mindset, HOPs..? How will we assist the principal in supporting and monitoring the implementation of our SIP?
Instructional Coach - What is my role in supporting staff as they implement this instructional practice? What actions will I take
as I build relationships and support teachers in implementation? Where will I go for support?
Teacher Leaders - What expertise do I bring in this area? How will I utilize this expertise to support my colleagues throughout
implementation? Where will I go for support?

Resources (Time, personnel, funds, technology, facilities, research)

Are resources being used optimally to advance learning?
What supports from Central Office are needed to activate your SIP?

Benchmarks/Monitoring Progress (Assessments, student work samples)

How are we doing? What evidence is needed to answer this question?
How will we know that students really understand the big ideas?
Are we assessing everything we value (or only those things that are most easily tested and graded)?
Is anything important falling through the cracks because we are not assessing it?
How might our assessments better promote learning, not simply measure it?
What evidence will teachers provide in an ongoing basis so the ILT can consistently utilize that data to determine next steps?

Timelines (30 day check in)

Given the goals set above, set dates for the quarter, semester, school year to a) conduct walk throughs, b) conduct learning
walks, c) conduct instructional rounds, d) meet with students groups to elicit student voice in measuring how we are meeting
our goals, e) collect evidence from staff and analyze with the ILT team, f) provide professional learning supports (as listed in
the actions above) in response to this data.

Evidence (Look fors in Learning Walks, Walk Throughs, Data)

What specific artifacts, data sets, and observable data will be collected to monitor implementation? How will staff be notified
and supported so these items are available?
