Standard Operating Procedures


Knitting:
Purpose:
To knit the blankets as per the blanket order and ensuring its conformance to quality
as per our customer demand.
Scope:
To prepare fabric for blanket.
Responsibilities:
Departmental incharge is responsible for maintaining the knitting quality as per
desired quality standards and making sure that the yarn quality and count are up to
the mark.

Procedure:
1. To make and issue requisition slip of required yarn cartons for knitting as per
the production plan made by the planning dept.
2. Issuance of yarn cartons from store as per requisition slip.
3. Yarn cartons are placed in lift through labors & are taken to knitting floor.
4. The cartons are then taken out from the lift with the help of labors and taken
to knitting yarn store through hand lifter & are stacked accordingly.
5. As per each machine requirement of yarn cones the cartons are taken out
from store, taken to the machines.
6. The cartons are opened and cones are fixed on the machine creels through
the labor.
7. Labors insert the yarn in machine and pass it through MPFs so that the
machine is ready to start.
8. The machine is started by the labor through start button and the machine
starts knitting the fabric.
9. As & when the machine stops during the operation it blinks with red signal
then it is the operator to ensure to re-start and fix the machine stoppage due
to any reason, in case of any machine breakdown the mechanics fix the
issue.
10.As the counter is fixed on item wise GSM, the machine automatically stops
after knitting the required kgs of polar fleece fabric.
11.The machine operator then takes the knitted roll out from the machine by
cutting it and winds up the cut fabric on the rod below and starts the machine
to continue knitting.
12.The knitted roll is then weighted.
13.The machine operator marks on the roll the machine no. with which it is being
produced and its weight.
14.The knitted roll is then placed on the roller conveyer which takes it to the
raising dept. via shooter.
15. The machine maintenance is checked by ensuring its needle and sinkers
placement time to time after the required kgs knitted by the machine.
16.The machine spare part change data is maintained by department supervisor
when the spare part replacement/ maintenance takes place.
