Exploring Excellence...
Sunil Shastri,
Chief Patron,
Indian Achievers Forum

I have been associated with Indian Achievers Forum (IAF) since its inception in
2000. And, I am proud to be a part of such a prestigious Forum where achievers
become inspirations for others.
Much has been written about how to achieve success and to become better at
what we do; but little is there about how to sustain success and become great
at what we do. I would like to add my perspective to the latter through my

INTERNATIONAL EVENTS AND SEMINARS
India and Middle East countries (particularly in the Gulf) have long enjoyed strategic and mutually beneficial
relationships. Interesting facts are India imports 60 per cent of its oil from the Middle East region and around 7
million Indian nationals are working in Middle East and repatriating U$40 billion remittances annually to India.
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) ranks as one of Indias top trading partners. India & UAE have agreed to aim for
a 60% increase in trade in the next 5 years.

DUBAI - UAE
IAF organised two-day event in Dubai in March
2013. Many prominent personalities from UAE and
India attended this event.
This event proved to be an excellent networking
platform for all the participants.
Many new business tie-ups took place
consequently among the business heads from
IT, Health, Tourism, Education, manufacturing
sectors.
During this event the Forum also felicitated
successful entrepreneurs and organisations for
their commendable achievements in business
sectors like, FMCG, Retail, Health care, Pharma-
ceuticals, Automobiles, etc.
The event received an overwhelming response
from both delegates and the participants alike.

It is interesting to know that many of Singapores earliest settlers were of Indian origin and now Singapore is
one of Indias largest foreign direct investor. India & Singapore have strategic business relationships to enhance
cooperation in sustainable Smart City development, water and waste management, aviation, education, skills
training, defence, culture and tourism. There will be huge opportunities for both the countries as India transforms
herself in the next decade.

SINGAPORE
International Achievers Summit was organized in
Singapore in June 2011.
This event was organised in association with the
Singapore Indian Chamber of Commerce and
Industry (SICCI).
Officials of Indian Embassy, President and
Directors of the SICCI and other prominent
personalities from business and trade graced
their presence at the event.
The event gave business opportunities to the
participants for B2B networking.
The event received an overwhelming response
from over 230 participants from sectors like
FMCG, Health, Automobile, Education, etc.
Enlightening sessions on Global Business
Opportunities was the main highlight of this event.
The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) was established on 8 August 1967 in Bangkok, Thailand,
with the signing of the ASEAN Declaration (Bangkok Declaration). The main objective of ASEAN is to accelerate
the economic growth, social progress and cultural development in the region comprising of Indonesia, Malaysia,
Philippines, Thailand, Singapore,Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam. ASEAN countries are very keen
to invest in India in the potential areas under the Make in India initiative, in the manufacturing sector as well
as in infrastructure development, tourism and hospitality industry, information technology, automotive parts,
pharmaceuticals, chemical products, machinery and parts, bio technology and research & development.

BANGKOK - THAILAND
ASEAN form a market of over 600 million consumers
and combined GDP of almost US$3 trillion.
Through its strategic location in Asia, Thailand offers
convenient trade opportunities to China, India and
the countries of ASEAN.

Thailand was one of the founding members of

ASEAN and has been instrumental in the formation
and development of the ASEAN Free Trade Area
(AFTA).
That is why Indian Achievers Forum (IAF) has chosen
Bangkok, Thailand as a place to hold its events and
has been organizing events regularly for the past
one decade.
During events and networking sessions, IAF is
providing platform to entrepreneurs from India
and ASEAN to discuss business and investment
opportunities.

These events were collaborated by India-Thai

Chambers of Commerce and India Thai Business
Association.
Events were chaired by prominent personalities
like, former Deputy. Prime Minister of Thailand,
Ambassadors of India in Thailand, Commerce
Secretary, Directors of Chamber of Commerce,
Investors, Corporate Heads, Policy Makers, et al.
Till date more than 500 companies from India, mostly
from FMCG, Banking, Health, Pharmaceutical,
Automobile, Education, Tourism and Service sectors,
have participated in these events.

These events also included sessions on felicitating

individual entrepreneurs with Global Achievers
Awards for their extraordinary achievements in
diverse fields from business and nation building.
Through these events in South East Asia, many
business tie-ups have been formalized between the
participating companies, while several more are in
the pipeline.
Friendship that exists between India and United Kingdom (U.K.) is characterised by extensive political engagement,
deep economic cooperation, and ever-expanding scientific and technological collaboration. U.K. is the host to more
than 800 major Indian-owned businesses. They have a combined turnover of 26 billion. The two countries enjoy
vibrant people-to-people relations supported by the 1.5 million strong Indian diaspora in the U.K. U.K.s finance
and expertise from its world-leading service sectors will help to deliver key Indian priorities like infrastructure
development, future smart cities, sustainable energy development, research and skills. Likewise, Indian
investments and business capacities and niche competencies are making valuable contributions to the U.K.s
growth and economy.

After U.K.s exit from the European Union; given the close cultural, economic and political ties between U.K. and
India; there is considerable optimism that a bilateral free trade agreement will be signed relatively soon for the
mutual benefit of both the countries.
