Message from H.E. Naela Chohan, High Commissioner for Pakistan,

on the Pakistan Day

I would like to convey my heartiest felicitations on the National Day of our beloved country, to the
members of Pakistani community in Australia, Papua New Guinea, Fiji, Vanuatu and Solomon Island.

Our diaspora that lives abroad has great love for Pakistan and their hearts beat for it. For you this
green and white flag is equally sacred and a symbol of pride.

Today, we celebrate the Pakistan Day with a sense of deep gratitude and humility, before Allah
(SWT) for His countless blessings and bounties. We have a democratically elected Government in
Pakistan which through implementation of Vision 2025 will improve the lives of the people and take
the country to new heights of development and prosperity.

The Government is resolutely determined to vigorously follow effective, result oriented, people
friendly policies to place the country firmly on the path of safety, security, peace, progress and
prosperity, in the long-term. We, the Pakistanis whether at home or abroad need to continue to
demonstrate fortitude and resilience in the face of challenges and support these efforts.

Seventy years ago, when Pakistan for the first time figured on the world map, that generation
demonstrated incredible courage and strength to help this new born country stand on its feet
through exceptional sacrifices.

Let us reinvigorate that spirit, on the occasion of this Pakistan Day, to make our beautiful homeland
a safer, stronger and progressive place.

On this occasion, I would like to reiterate the words of Quaid-e-Azam which he said on the eve of
Pakistan Day on 23rd March 1944, Lets go forward, full of hope for coming years, with faith in our
heart, unity in our camp, discipline in ranks, and I am confident of our success...

Inshallah we will be successful.

Pakistan Paindabad!

LETS GUP SHUP

Sometimes it is a small idea that creates an impact which is beyond imagination. It was one
of our members Asma who decided to have an informal meet and greet with Pakistani
ladies once in a while. This is something that is highly welcomed by the ladies so hopefully
others can start a similar meet and greet. We are happy to publicize it on your behalf.
There is a UWA GUP SHUP on Thursday at 4.30 pm to coincide with Pakistan Day and then
we will decide which day of the month would be suitable for UWA. You are welcome to
attend.
The second GUP SHUP will be at Morley shopping centre at noon on 25th March hosted by
Asma Sabir.

DR. ATTIQUE ZAFAR made headlines on television for his bravery

when he attended to a casualty nearby the place where he went
to examine a patient in Queensland. Well Done!

PARRAMASALA IN SYDNEY

Last week Sydney saw Pakistani artist Rafi Riaz with Natasha De Sousa demonstrating an
impressive piece of art on truck at Parramasala festival. The Consulate General of Pakistan in
Sydney has made extra efforts to ensure that Pakistani culture is displayed at its best and certainly
did not disappoint the visitors.

Mr. Rafi Riaz is at the moment touring around Australia and we are keenly waiting for his visit to
Perth so keep watching this space.
