INTRODUCTION

Problem Statement
The effects of the frequent use of Technology on the academic
performances of students in Presentation College, Chaguanas
(PCC).

Background Of The Problem

In recent years, technology was introduced to the youths of
Trinidad and Tobago throughout their homes and schools. Now the
uprising issue of the abuse of technology has circulated not only
students, but really the people of the country, generally the
world. Since schools have provided technology for their students,
the use of it has been the main use of any student's life. Now
society has to struggle to accept the fact that technology is now a
necessity in a rapidly changing world.

Statement Of The Problem

This is an investigation of the effects of frequent use of
technology on the academic performance of students in PCC,
specifically looking whether frequent use of technology impacts
negatively or positively on students grades.

Research Questions
(1) What are the negative effects of the use of technology
on students academic performance?

(2) What are the negative effects of the use of technology

on students academic performance?
(3) How can technology be properly used in order to
maximize students academic performance?
Purpose Of Research
This investigation is conducted to highlight the issue of the
frequent use of technology and how it can be resolved.

Educational Value Of Studying

This study is worthwhile, where it gives a concise look of the
problems faced dealing with technology and also the
benefits of technology as well. With the use of this study
students will get a reality check of the abuse of technology
and may also learn how the use of technology can be
properly used at times of need and at times of leisure.
Teachers will be able to use technology as support to build
an educational base with their students such as: creating
sites, sending emails etc. Educational institutions may
employ technology in schools for the use of students that
arent privileged to have one of their own and may wish to
use technology for their school.

Technical Terms

Technology - The application of the knowledge and

usage of tools (such as machines or utensils).

School - An educational institutions faculty and

students.

Academic - generally refers to how well a student is

accomplishing his or her tasks and studies.

Delimitations
This study is conducted within the school of PCC and is
mainly based on its students.
It is focused on technology but specifically the use of
devices such as (laptops, phones, computers etc.)
