relevant information. Each group should keep one copy of this handbook and another copy
for lecturer.

SECTION B: ASSESSMENTS.

1. PROJECT (15%) : VODCAST

Objectives:
1. To inculcate deep understanding on concept of civilization.
2. To promote knowledge sharing among peers.

Instruction:

Produce vodcast (video note) on topic assigned by your lecturer. /Vodcast must not exceed 10
minutes. Vodcast must be produced in any universal video format. Submission date is on 27 APRIL
1 MAY 2015 (WEEK 10). You will get your point based on both audio note and written report. Please
use standard cover page and fill all the detail manually by hand writing. Students are also allowed to
pre-submit your job few weeks before deadline to get feedback from your lecturer.

2. PRESENTATION (15%)

Instruction: Your lecturer will assign presentation topic. All group members will have to participate in
presentation session, and mark will be given individually. 10% will be given during presentation
session, while 5% will be assessed based on student participation through out the learning and
teaching process. Presentation will commence on 16 MAC 2015 (WEEK 4) 15 MAY 2015 (WEEK
12). Write all details below:

Explanation on mark distribution:

Participation: 2% will be given based on student participation through out the class. The more the
student participate in asking, responding, answering, querying and helping teaching and learning
process, the more they will get points. Points will also be deducted if the student fail to show good
values as campus community, like always late in attending class, fail to submit assignment within time
frame, among others.

Content: Up to 5% will be given based on content presented by student through out their presentation
session. Lecturer will assess the relevancy of the content, and how critical the presenter in
disseminates the ideas to the audience.

Organization: Up to 2% will be given based on flow of the presentation. All group members must
make sure that the presentation is related and connected each other. Missing chain and irrelevancy
will deduct the points.

Presentation skills: Up to 2% will be given based on students ability to present their idea, by
assessing their verbal communication skills, gesture, eye contact and others.

Slide format: Up to 2% will be given based on utilization of all functions and effects in Microsoft
Power Point or Mac Keynote.

Extra mark: Up to 2% will be given based on anything that boost appearance of presenter in front of
the audience. This includes uniformity, attire, ability to stimulate the discussion, ability to make joke
and bonding with audience, among others.

3. ASSIGNMENT (ESSAY) (15%)

Instruction: Choose one of the following topics:

1. Analyze any verse in al-Quran/hadith that has relation with science and technology. Explore the
verse from classic and modern Quranic exegesis, and explain the impact of the verse towards modern
civilization.

2. Analyze current issue in Malaysia. Any relevant topic must be supported by evidence and data, and
must be related with theory of civilization. Topic MUST from these issues:
a. Political
b. Social and Cultural
c. Economy
d. Religious
Plagiarism is not allowed and will badly affect your mark. Submission date is on 13 17 APRIL 2015
(WEEK 8).
