TRAVEL BAN 2

Abstract

Although the travel ban was supposed to keep us safe temporarily from terrorists, the ban has

negatively affected families of muslim immigrants from various muslim-majority nations,

universities, and companies. The travel ban has recently came in use in the month of February by

an executive order by our new president. Trump has been president for a few months, some

things have gone down the hole, some were not really accepted, and hasnt succeeded to keep

calm both sides of accepting his decisions. By this travel ban, it has worried many Americans by

this new change of not letting any people from muslim majority nations come inside the US

temporarily, but can he consider it to continue longer? This travel ban has also activated protest

across US airports. Still this travel ban is still in use, but recently Trump wants it to continue

longer. When the travel ban came utilize, many people from those nations were prevented to

leave the airport for hours or evening boarding a plane. This also has cause questions and

worriedness among many people attending school in the US, companies, and even families. But

can this ban make damages rather protect us from terrorists? Many question how the years will

be with a new president that makes new changes for the face of America.
TRAVEL BAN 3

In recent months of Trumps presidential, a controversial issue has been whether of a travel ban

made in the February 2017. The travel ban was made to keep away people from muslim majority

nations in the US because of possible terrorists entering the US. It supposed to keep us safe

somehow, but has caused more damages at home, then what supposed to be fixed. On the one

hand, some argue that this ban is affecting dramatically to muslim families, companies, and

students who attend school here and are from muslim majority nations. From this perspective, we

can see that not only has prevented people from coming in, but has given tough time people from

those nations that want to come here, but are send back to their refugee camps and homes. On the

other hand, however, others argue that this is the best way to keep the US safe. However, people

are blinded by the other side of this ban, and not see the ones that cant come the land of

opportunities. In the words of Ahmed Hassan, a Somali refugee, one of this views main

proponents, I feel completely ruined, said Ahmed Hassan, a Somali refugee heading for Rhode

Island. In the past few weeks, Mr. Hassan was bused out of the camp; sent to a transit center in

Nairobi, Kenyas capital, several hundred miles away; given travel documents; told he was about

to fly to America; told he was not about to fly to America; bused back to the camp; and then told

he might actually fly to America after all. He boarded a bus in Nairobi to return to the camp just

hours before the federal judge lifted the travel ban. (NY Times, 2017) According to this view,

there is long procedure to travel to places but with a obstacle in his way, its hard to get

somewhere when you cant get through. By this statement it shows not only him, but others that

have to go through this. In sum, the issue is whether a wrong way to show the US in a very short
TRAVEL BAN 4

time against immigrants and the ideal power used by the new president. The issue with the travel

ban matters because it is not helping at all and is causing negative effects to people and even the

economic. Ultimately, what is at stake here is companies, schools, and families. Large companies

are going against the ban because they believe they are pushing creative and intelligent minds

away. Schools are asking students from other countries to stay and not get out because they are

afraid they may not able to go back and finish school. However, families, mostly people from the

Muslim-majority nations are affected from families in the US to be with loved ones that are detained. If

we are right about what this order is creating, then major consequences follow by having a hard

time accepting the decisions of Trump, people that have an education here, people that fear

leaving here and cant come back in, and even companies. Although this travel ban may seem a

bit concern to only large group of people, it has activated protest against Trump across in US

airports, it should in fact concern anyone who cares about immigrants, freedom, and giving

chances.

One approach to solving this problem would be to stop this order as soon as possible. If done

well, this could benefit to bring back families to their loved ones, companies can have their

brightest minds back, and students that attend school here, can feel at ease. This has raised

eyebrows in large companies such as Google, Microsoft, and much more. Many of them are

really going against the Presidents order because they really believe its pushing away creative

and intelligent minds. Companies like to be big, and with these specific minds, it can grow their

company and influenced bosses to pick certain people no matter who they are, but what they can

do. However this a big problem when they dont have specific people from other countries to
TRAVEL BAN 5

work for them that are not in the US. This ban has also influenced schools, that want to deeply

protect students from muslim majority countries to still attend school but not to go back, when

they're not able to come back in. Many of them attend here, trying to earn a title to become

someone in society. Many have dreams, goals, and a life, but not allowed to go back in, is scary.

Schools want their students to not let their education go, by all what they have done to come that

far, but then stopped by an obstacle so indestructible to go through is not pretty. With students,

this has affected many families that cant be with others because they are detained or sent back

with no information to go where they want to go. Easy way to get out, hard way to get in. Not

only has helped us, it has became the opposite to continue life, when you're not able to be with

loved ones.

Another approach to solving this problem is dont detained people in airports that have green

cards because it would easily make faster the procedure to cross the border and also let people to

go home. Although being detained can lead for hours waiting, security has to look through your

records for not being a possible terrorists. When these news came through, immediately had

spark protest across the US. Also people who are lawyers came to the airports and made

themselves to be a free lawyer to any detained muslims from airports. This situation was the first

time, by just an executive order by Trump, spark controversy, picking sides, and negativity

against him and people. To put this in another way, this has a same connection to Trumps idea

with immigration and can lead to accepting and not accepting it. However, these reaction from

changes made by Trump can turn up again when he changes to something for good, as in

permanently.
TRAVEL BAN 6

Lastly, a solution for this problem to make the people from the government and even Trump to

review the constitution and laws that protect others because they should review them and see that

theyre going against it and its wrong. The law was given to balance society, but it was always

meant to be broken. Yet many ignore the law and dont really respect it. If the government and

Trump understand clearly the laws, then things will be different. People from the muslim

majority countries can go home peaceful and nobody would have been angry of the travel ban.

So far there hasnt been any terrorist news in the US at all. The way the laws is being handle,

The Atlantic states, The federal government is obligated to safeguard the Constitutional rights

of every American. Among other things, that requires the Department of Justice to stop local

police departments from perpetrating civil rights violations. Will more civil rights violations be

tolerated under President Trump? Will the Trump Administration protect the voting rights of

African Americans? Will federal law enforcement engage in profiling of Hispanics on his

watch?(The Atlantic, 2017) This means that if the law under Trumps administration, the law

does not apply at all. Which totally goes against it and way we view our new President. On top

of all that, this order offends our nation's laws and values.

So far this travel ban is barely new, and still temporarily used, many of restriction is unknown.

But their a definite other side of this ban, people are supporting it. Some may challenge the view

that the travel ban is beneficial by insisting that keeps the US safe and protected from terrorists

and terrorists are known for causing damages such as shooting, bombs, and destruction which

fear can play a role in this. Fear is an emotion that can lead the person to think differently and

logically in order to keep themselve safe and their family. The travel ban has already been out of
TRAVEL BAN 7

use in a small amount of states, but not 100%. By Trumps power is very hard to prevent

stopping this travel ban and many have noticed it will take time to stop this ban. This ban is very

complicated when it comes to seeing that is benefit by having no potential terrorists here and will

be safe, but reality they dont the bad side of this. This ban has made damages in the US rather

than protect us from terrorists. Aso many people like state governors, past government officials,

companies, schools, people that notice of this may say that this travel ban ignores some of the

complexities of the situation, and they feel that is not giving rights to others equally and

damaging people, not the country. There is still few days that the ban will be over, but yet Trump

is considering a little bit more longer. If this is true, and gets out in the news, anger from people

will come upon him and his decision.

Furthermore, the best solution for this travel ban is not hate muslim people and stop this

immediately. This will help companies to grow and even grow the economy. Schools can be in

peace and feel safe when comes to have education and their families by their. Nobody should

feel alone, when it comes when family cant get in at all to be with you. Even families can be

with loved ones and not be overcome by being detained in airports. On the one hand, I agree with

the protection of the US from terrorist. But on the other hand, I still insist that there shouldnt be

a travel ban because pushes people who are just muslim, who are just immigrants, who are just

known for being terrorist, but their not. Accept people no matter what race they are, who they

are, what they are, but also what they can do, what is beneficial in this world. Pushing people

away is pushing away amazing possible minds from the world.
