PotawatomiZoologicalSocietyhasreceivedaCommunityInvestmentgrantawardfor
$15,000fromtheCommunityFoundationofElkhartCounty

ELKHART,Ind.TheCommunityFoundationofElkhartCountyhasawardedPotawatomiZooanawardof
$15,000forits2017EducationalAssistanceProgramawardcycle.

TheawardwillhelpPotawatomiZooofferElkhartCountySchools,thatmaynototherwisebeabletoattenddue
tofunding,theopportunitytodevelopincreasedskillsinobservation,interpretationandglobalthinkingthrough
enrichingfieldtrips.Throughthiseffort,PotawatomiZooseekstosupportElkhartCountyeducatorsinthe
classroombytransformingstudentideasabouttheworldaroundthem.Zoosaretrusted,welcomingplaces
wherechildrencanmakediscoveries,deepeninterests,andconnecttheirnaturalcuriositytothewiderworld
developingtheskillsneededforalifetimeoflearning.AZAaccreditedaquariumsandzoosarevitalpartnerswith
formalschoolprogramsandorganizations.Togetherwecanprovideenrichinglearningexperiencesforthe
childreninElkhartCountythroughfieldtripopportunities.
