Reaction Paper of Autobiography

Autobiography is a story of a persons life in his own words, it is an example of literary

nonfiction. As already mentioned, the autobiography is the story of one's life, written by that
person. Mostly, autobiographies are written in first-person point of view. This means that the
narrator, or person telling the story, is also in the story. You can tell if a story is written in first-
person if the narrator uses the personal pronouns I, me, and my. Autobiographies are usually
book-length, since the author usually covers the events of his or her entire life. Not all
biographical work covers the authors entire life, in fact there are four types of work that are
usually much shorter than a normal book because only part of the authors life is discussed. One
of it is the journals, a daily written record of personal experiences and observations, usually not
very emotional. These journals are always seen on businessmen and students where they write
their business transactions and etc. The other one is diaries, a daily written record of personal
thoughts and feelings, usually full of emotions because it is where people write their personal
and private experiences which can make some people feel better if they dont have a friend to
talk to. It is the day by day record of what happens in your life. The next example is letters, a
written messages addressed to a specific person or organization. This letters can be seen in text
messages and chats which we use in our daily life. Before letters are used to be longer but
because of our new technology it became shorter but still it is a kind of autobiography. The last
example is the memoir, written about specific events and people, relating the authors personal
experiences within those events and people. Very similar to a book length autobiography but
usually shorter. It is a collection of memories that an individual writes about moments or events,
either public or private, that took place in the subject's life. The assertions made in the work are
understood to be factual. While memoir has historically been defined as a subcategory
of biography or autobiography since the late 20th century, the genre is differentiated in form,
presenting a narrowed focus. A biography or autobiography tells the story "of a life", while a
memoir often tells "a story from a life". A memoir typically uses a scenes or stories as a way of
examining a writers life or an important moment in a writers it is usually but not necessarily
narrative. You dont have to make the book a list of your accomplishments, you also need to
reveal the truth about yourself and your life. You should also be creative in writing to make your
autobiography interesting and it should have sense and the reader must get a lesson upon reading
the story of your life. These examples of autobiography can help us to understand the real
meaning of autobiography. People are confused about the difference of biography and
autobiography but just like I said earlier biography is a story of a persons life in others word
while the autobiography in a story of a persons life in his own words. In order to write a good
autobiography the writer should create a timeline of his own life because it can help the writer to
be sure to include all the most important dates and event and it gives you structure to build upon.
Autobiography are use full in history of a people like for example Dr. Jose Rizal who wrote a
novel which shows the life of Filipinos during the Spanish conquest. Also the bible can be an
example of autobiography where they wrote the important details of their life and this can help
us to know the past and the important things happened before. Most of the people nowadays still
write autobiography because of modern technology like messaging and etc. and because they
dont want other people know their private and personal experiences, they still make diaries for
their own and keep it.
Reaction paper of Biography
A biography, or simply bio means life, is a detailed description of a person's life. It involves
more than just the basic facts like education, work, relationships, and death; it portrays a person's
experience of these life events. Unlike a profile, a biography presents a subject's life story,
highlighting various aspects of his or her life, including intimate details of experience, and may
include an analysis of the subject's personality. Biographical works are usually non-fiction, but
fiction can also be used to portray a person's life. One in-depth form of biographical coverage is
called legacy writing. Works in diverse media, from literature to film, form the genre known as
biography. Biography is similar to autobiography because it is about the life of a person, it only
differs in that the biography is a story of a persons life by others words while autobiography is a
story of a persons with his own words. The biography always narrates in third person point of
view which uses him/her, them, and they. In order to make a biography the writer must know the
life events of the person he wants to write he/she can make a research and make a time line and
most of the time the title of this is the name of person or main character in the biography. The
biography is good for the readers because they can get moral lesson and inspirations by reading
true to life stories. Other people sometimes famous people dont write an autobiography so we
dont know the story of their lives maybe they are busy so other people writes about them, about
what happens in their life, but not all the time. For example a famous man like Jose Rizal, almost
everyone knows him and his life so other writers can make a biography about him. He is known
as our national hero because of his novels and proves that a pen is mightier than sword.
Biography is a nonfiction work where you wrote others life and tell their experiences. Any
people can write biography because you just need to have an information of someones life, it is
a free writing where you can write your own words and opinions because you dont need to
follow any guide or instruction of the story you want to write. You have to show them what
happened in the story not just to tell them by using five senses, the touch, smell, sight, hear, and
taste for you to let the readers feel the story not just to read it. In writing biography you have to
tell facts about someones life, need to have enough information of someones life and never
invent a story because it can make other readers believe and can start a falls information about
someones life. For me making biography is important for some reasons like sharing someones
heroism, greatness, and etc. that can give inspirations and lessons to readers so they can apply it
in their life. Sometimes readers just want to share others life with tragic ending not just to make
the person become a bad example but for the readers to know what can happen when they choose
a wrong decision for example drugs, which can destroy their life but still some choose to take
drugs but when they read a biography of someone which has a same story or topic related to
drugs, they can see the possibilities that can happen in their life when they choose the wrong
decision. In short some biography with serious or negative topic and tragic ending can be a
lesson for us which can help us in our life and not to make failure like what happened in the story
we read. Real life experiences is the best teacher so we must read some experiences for us to
learn a lesson and biography is the best example to read experiences. Biography sometimes
change the way how we think about life it can make us more ready for the future and stay strong
in the present by reading someones past.
Reaction paper for personal essay
The personal essay is also one of the most popular forms of creative nonfiction. A personal
essay can be based on a personal experience that results in a lesson that you learn. A personal
essay can also be a personal opinion about a topic or issue that is important to you. The personal
essay is also one of the most popular forms of creative nonfiction. A personal essay can be based
on a personal experience that results in a lesson that you learn. A personal essay can also be a
personal opinion about a topic or issue that is important to you. This article defines the personal
essay. The personal essay is different than a formal essay. In the personal essay, the writer writes
about experience without having to prove the point. The author needs only to introduce the
subject and theme. It is based on feeling, emotion, personal opinion, and personal experience. It
is autobiographical. On the other hand, in the formal essay, the writer states the thesis, and then
attempts to prove or support his point with factsto provide proof. To do this, the author must
do research. A personal essay is either a personal narrative in which the author writes about a
personal incident or experience that provided significant personal meaning or a lesson learned, or
it is a personal opinion about some topic or issue that is important to the writer. As a personal
narrative, personal essay is based on a personal experience in which you have gained significant
meaning, insight, or learned a lesson. It can also be based on a milestone or life-altering
event. The writer tells the story by including dialogue, imagery, characterization, conflict, plot,
and setting. It is written in the first person. (I point-of-view), It is an autobiographical story in
which the writer describes an incident that resulted in some personal growth or development. A
personal essay is a glimpse of the writers life. The writer describes the personal experience
using the scene-building technique, weaves a theme throughout the narrative, and makes an
important point. There must be a lesson or meaning. The writer cannot just write an interesting
story. It does not have to be objective. However, the writer must express his/her feelings,
thoughts, and emotions. The writer uses self-disclosure and is honest with his/her readers. The
writer writes about a real life experience. The incident or experience must have occurred. The
writer must use fact and truth. The writer must dramatize the story by using the scene building
technique. A scene includes setting/location, intimate details, concrete and specific descriptions,
action, and often dialogue. A personal essay can also be an opinion piece, an opinion that is
based on a particular political or social concern or topic of interest. In this type of personal essay,
the writer can states the problem, provide solutions, and then write a conclusionwhich must
state an important point. Whatever the writer discusses, the topic is of interest to the writer. The
writer frequently seeks to explain the truth or reality has he/she views it. Sometimes the writer
ponders a question. Other times the writer explores a topic from his own perspective. The writer
must not lecture, sermonize, or moralize. In other words, the writer must present his/her opinion
in such a way that allows the readers decide for themselves. It should also be noted that a
personal essay doesnt need to be objective. It can be purely subjective. You dont have to prove
a point or show both sides of the argument. But you must express your own personal feelings,
thoughts, and opinions on a topic or issue in a logical manner. The personal essay has loose
structure and conversational tone. It is usually written in the first person. The writer uses self-
disclosure, honesty, and truth. The writer can write about any subject, topic, or personal
experience. But the personal essay must have a universal theme and conclude with a major point.
Otherwise, the reader says, So what? It was a nice story, but so what is the point?
Reaction paper for literary journalism
Literary journalism is another essay form that is best reserved for intermediate and advanced
level courses, but it can be incorporated into introductory and composition courses. Literary
journalism is the creative nonfiction form that comes closest to newspaper and magazine writing.
It is fact-driven and requires research and, often, interviews. Literary journalism is sometimes
called immersion journalism because it requires a closer, more active relationship to the
subject and to the people the literary journalist is exploring. Like journalistic writing, the literary
journalism piece should be well-researched, focus on a brief period of time, and concentrate on
what is happening outside of the writers small circle of personal experience and feelings. One
way to incorporate literary journalism into an introductory or intermediate level course is simply
to have students write personal essays first. Then the students can go back and research the facts
behind the personal experiences related in their essays. They can incorporate historical data,
interviews, or broaden the range of their personal essay by exploring the cultural or political
issues hinted at in their personal essays. These resources discuss some terms and techniques that
are useful to the beginning and intermediate creative nonfiction writer, and to instructors who are
teaching creative nonfiction at these levels. The distinction between beginning and intermediate
writing is provided for both students and instructors, and numerous sources are listed for more
information about creative nonfiction tools and how to use them. A sample assignment sheet is
also provided for instructors. Literary journalism is a form of nonfiction that combines factual
reporting with some of the narrative techniques and stylistic strategies traditionally associated
with fiction. Also called narrative journalism. In his ground-breaking anthology The Literary
Journalists (1984), Norman Sims observed that literary journalism "demands immersion in
complex, difficult subjects. The voice of the writer surfaces to show that an author is at work."
The term literary journalism is sometimes used interchangeably with creative nonfiction; more
often, however, it is regarded as one type of creative nonfiction." Literary journalism is not
fiction--the people are real and the events occurred--nor is it journalism in a traditional sense.
There is interpretation, a personal point of view, and (often) experimentation with structure and
chronology. Another essential element of literary journalism is its focus. Rather than
emphasizing institutions, literary journalism explores the lives of those who are affected by those
institutions." literary journalism is 'nonfiction printed prose whose verifiable content is shaped
and transformed into a story or sketch by use of narrative and rhetorical techniques generally
associated with fiction.' Through these stories and sketches, authors 'make a statement, or
provide an interpretation, about the people and culture depicted.' Norman Sims adds to
this definition by suggesting the genre itself allows readers to 'behold others' lives, often set
within far clearer contexts than we can bring to our own.' He goes on to suggest, 'There is
something intrinsically politicaland strongly democraticabout literary journalism
something pluralistic, pro-individual, anti-cant, and anti-elite.
