Instruction for Tightening
Slit Filters and High Pressure Pipes

Dear Sirs,

SI it F i Iters

Owing to an uneven and too strong tightening there have

been cases where slit filters have cracked in the radiused groove at
the retaining ring as marked on enclosed drawing No. 432249-4.0
(it only applies to this type of filters).

To secure an even and uniform tightening we recommend

to tighten with torque wrench to 0 torque of 10 kgm per stud, the
tightening being made successively for each stud with 3, 6, and
10 kgm.

Torque wrench and corresponding crow-foot wrench is on

board on K98FF, K84EF, and K74EF. For other engine types the
torque wrench can be purchased according to our drawing No.
183368.

High Pressure Pipes

There have been cases where the h ig h pressure pi pe ends

have been so deformed because of too strong tightening that tightness
has not been obtainable.

To secure the longevity of the connection the following

must be observed:

Before Mounting

Before mounting the high pressure pipes, pipe-ends/seats

must be inspected for dirt and marks.

If there are marks, pipe-end/seat must be reconditioned by

cutters which are supplied on board for K-EF and K-FF
engines. For the other engine types cutters can be
purchased.

Mounting

The screws in the connections must only be tightened

slightly and evenly so that the screws carry equally.

For the type of connections which is secured by unbrako

screws, extension on the unbrako wrench must under no
circumstances be used.

If the connection is not tight after mounting it must again

be inspected for dirt or marks in the joint surfaces as men-
tioned in "Before mounting".

Dismounting

During and after dismounting, care must be taken that

pipe-end/seat are not damaged.

After dismounting, pipes and seats should be plugged to

avoid dirt in the high pressure system.

Yours faithfully,
A KTlESE LS KABE T
