Karli Lisecki
This is a letter of recommendation for Karli Lisecki for a position as an elementary educator.
In Fall, 2016, I taught Karli in TE802, Reflection & Inquiry In Teaching Practice I: Literacy
and in Spring, 2017, I taught Karli in TE803, Professional Role & Teaching Practice II,
Teaching Focus: Integrated Units In/With Social Studies for All Students, as part of
Michigan State Universitys College of Education internship program. In addition to getting
to know her as a student in the course, I also visited her in the classroom in her internship.
Karli demonstrates exceptional promise as an educator. She is among the best students I
have ever taught.
In both courses, Karli learned to design learning activities and assessments that were
grounded in state and national content standards, that used research-based practices, and that
drew on what she learned in pre-assessments she conducted with students. She also learned
how to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners and to infuse equity-based
practices in her curriculum and instruction.
Karli was a terrific student in both courses. She produced high-quality assignments (and
there were many: analysis of students literacy skills; design and enactment of a writing unit;
design and enactment of an extensive unit plan that integrates social studies and literacy, a
lesson study assignment, and a resource guide and accompanying presentation on a learning
disability or exceptionality). Additionally, there were a number of readings and in-class
activities. Throughout both semesters, Karli had excellent attendance and produced
extraordinary work. Moreover, she was a very active, engaged, and thoughtful participant in
class discussions. I was particularly impressed by her informed stance on educational issues
at the local, state, and national levels.
Sincerely,
