markings. Also, a silent dream of a- there are no breath marks there- so
dont do it! Thats the middle of a sentence

so watch me
=m. 25 rain- hold all the way until the next measure and then sing an
n
-m. 28- no breath- same with men in 30 t0 31- I know I am being picky
but we can do it
-m. 44- same thing as beginning- play the chord- find your note- play
chord-find note
-then walk through each chord super slow-
-m. 40- in this section- do the boys sing the same notes as the girls or
not? YES THEY DO! So listen to each other- it will be a whole lot easier

-m. 56 make it sound eerie
-if have more time- go until measure 70- identify tenuto and entrances

-time signature is what? Eighth note gets 1 beat, quarter note 2, dotted
quarter 3
Madrigal #1 O Mistress Mine-
-tap the eighth notes on your shoulder (like what we do in sight reading)
-speak the rhythm of the first two pages like this- demonstrate
-do again if needed, then sing through the first two pages
-fix the are you roaming leap there- do solfege if needed
-go straight to where it says, journeys, and tackle the harmonies
-play soprano part first then alto part, then together- to keep engaged
students have them be following along and tapping
-go from beginning to journeys, make sure their entrance is right on, if
they cant get eighth note rest, have them stomp on the eighth rest
before they come in
- next two pages- page 4 a lot like the beginning- keep tapping
-sing through
-break down harmonies at top of 5, show that it is different this time- it
goes higher
-stomp on eighth rests

-speak the rhythm- theres a tricky part I want you to catch first- m. 15
-do this until m. 22 with speaking rhythm
then go on to p. 10 and 11- hey nonny nonny- transition from 9 to 10 for
altos
-how long hold hey? On m. 26? 4 beats out of the six
-m. 39 is different than m. 15- watch out!
-especially rhythm at m. 54
O Swiftly Glides
-run through to keep in memory- what do we need to remember about
the piece? Quick discussion
-proactive men- are you listening for right where your entrance comes
in? Otherwise it becomes a hassle trying to get your attention right
before you come in.
-dont forget your syllabic stress!
