withAngelintwoprograms-TheAmbassadorProgram,arecruitmentandcommunity
serviceprogramandTheCollegeInitiativeProgram,acollegeandcareerpreparatory
program.BasedonmyexperienceworkingwithAngel,Iamconfidentinsayingthathe
isacreative,innovativeanduncannyleaderwhoembodiesthequalitiesandskills
neededtobesuccessfulinthe21stcentury.
SincemeetingAngel,Ihavewitnessedhisdriveinattendingahighereducation
institution.WhileworkingcloselywithAngelduringhissophomoreyear,hestoodout
assomeonewhowentaboveandbeyondtoshowmasteryandcriticalthinkinginhis
work.Sincehisfreshmenyear,hehasbeenconsistentlyawardedthePrincipalsHonor
RollawardandHighHonorRollawardbecauseofhishardworkanddiligenceinhis
academics.Angelhasalsobeenoneofthefewstudentsinourcommunitytobeableto
takecollegecoursesconcurrentlyatSantaAnaCollegeandConcordiaUniversity.
Academically,hehasexcelledbychallenginghimselftotakecoursesthatrequire21st
centurylearningskillsandisinthetop5%ofourschool.
Angelisalsopartofacohortof24seniorsatNOVAAcademyECHSthatisapart
oftheCollegeInitiativeProgram.Hehasparticipatedanddedicatedanaverageof2-3
hoursperweekoutsideofclassroomtime;hehascompletedmini-lessonsrevolving
aroundcollegeandcareerprepandcompletedstudyhourscoveringACTandSAT
prep.IhavebeeninspiredbyAngelsdeterminationinmaximizinghisresourcesatour
schooltobetterpreparehimforcollegeandeventually,acareerthathewouldbemost
happyin.
Angelhasdemonstratedhisnaturalcommitmentandleadershiptohispassions
bybecominginvolvedinschoolextracurricularandpart-timework.Sincefreshmen
yearhehashelpedbuildapositiveschoolculturebybecominginvolvedin
ASB/Leadership.HehasalsobeenapartofourschoolsAmbassadorProgram(focused
onpublicspeaking,givingtourstocampusvisitors,andcommunityserviceprojects)
foroverthreeyearsnow.Heisoneofhandfulofstudentswhohasbeensuccessfulin
takingpartinthesetwoleadershipprogramsatourschool.Angelhasledbyexample
withhispeersandhasdevelopedatremendousamountofpersonalandprofessional
development.Allofthis,andAngelhasstillmanagedtomaintainapart-timeworking
schedulesincejunioryearworkingatElPolloLocotohelphisfamilypayfortherent.
Hisdedicationandcommitmenttoourschoolandcommunitysculturereflectsthe
