Each of us has death within us. The
sure and certain death which awaits
each of our ends, to be sure; but
also the deadening of hope and
the burden of sadness. Dear Friends,
what would it look like if that
deadening, if that burden were
resurrected? If new life was breathed
into us and we looked out from our
cynical eyes with hope? When were
in the slough of despair, it can be
hard to even imagine living outside
of our death; but this is what Easter is
all about. Its about the possibility
that grace may break through our
sad disbelief to create in us a new
life.
For those of us who have lived with Prayers for the Goetsch, Gryske &
despair, we know that this kind of new Harmann families

Ron Easter marks Gods victory of life over death and love
Blaschuk over hate. The Resurrection of Jesus is the promise that
God gives to each of us, that death will never define us. It
is God alone who defines our hope and our life.

Holy Week marks the last week of Jesus life, from Palm
Sunday when He came into Jerusalem to the accolades
of the crowds through Maundy Thursday, when He eats
a last meal with His disciples, and then is betrayed by
them through Good Friday, when He is crucified by
those who feared Him to Holy Saturday, when His body
rests in death in a borrowed tomb. When we join together
in remembering His life and death, we can more deeply
comprehend the miracle of His resurrection on Easter.
Come to the Holy Week services, and live more deeply
into the Christ of your hope.

Easter Flowers to Emmanuel!
Purchase a Spring-y flower from wherever you want
and bring it in on Sunday, April 9 th, or on Easter itself,
Sunday April 16th. Loaned plants may be taken back after
Easter, otherwise they will be eventually planted in our
Emmanuel garden! Blank tags will be provided to list who
you are, the name/s of anyone you may be dedicating
the plant to, and whether you are donating or lending
the plant. Plant holders will be placed at the front of the
Sanctuary where plants can be set. Lets celebrate this
season of renewal at Emmanuel by making our services
bloom with life!

CHURCH SCHOOL
In March the kids filmed a movie about Moses, took part
in making props, and overall decided where the movie
was going! What a great group of creative and kind
hearted children!!!
In April we will be focusing on Easter week. The kids will be
making freeze frames!
April 2 - Days leading up to Easter using freeze frames
with all classes.
April 9 - Kids will help walk Jesus into church with Palms
and then head to Sunday School for Palm Sunday Freeze
frames.
April 16 - Easter, kids are in church and Easter egg hunt
after!! (No Sunday School but nursery will be available for
the littles).
April 23 - Earth day celebration, kids learn how we can
protect the earth!
April 30 - Fruits of the Spirit

TURNING POINTS IN THE BODY OF CHRIST

In the 1700s the Spirit swept over America in a religious
revival called The Great Awakening, and the church was
transformed by a sense of evangelical mission and social
gospel. How did this newfound call to mission not only
transform the nature of the Christian faith yet again, but
transform the world? 1907- Pentecostal Movement: the
Azuza Street Revival. The rise of Fundamentalism in the
20th century.
Starting Wed, Apr. 26 at 10:30 AM, we'll be delving into a
book by Desmond Tutu and the Dalai Lama called The
Book of Joy. Interested? You can pick the book up at
Books & Company in Oconomowoc...youll find it on the
Emmanuel shelf.

to go to the Alzheimers Association of
Southeast Wisconsin for their work in
research and education.

COGNITIVE DISABILITIES.
2017 ADULT FORUM EDUCATION SERIES
How many of us know and love someone with a
cognitive disability? Alzheimers and Autism are probably
the most familiar to us, although we all know those with
different forms of cognitive disability. This year in our
Adults Forums after worship, well be exploring what its
like to live with different types of cognitive disabilities, and
how we can be more compassionate friends and allies.
Well begin the year with an exploration of Alzheimers
and dementia.

MISSIONS OF EMMANUEL
Family Promise
We will be hosting families April 2 9. We have two
families that will be our guests for that week but we know
that number can change. Family Promise of Waukesha
has set four families as the most that any of our thirteen
host churches can facilitate at one time. We always look
forward to assisting these families and thank all of you
who have been trained and share your time and talents
with this mission.
More news: Our Executive Director, David Tennyck, has
submitted his resignation sighting "personal reasons
unforeseen when I arrived." The board worked hard to
find a replacement and would like to inform you that
Lakesha Jones will replace David, starting March 27. She
is said to have amazing skills to help Family Promise grow
and develop. In our nearly three years of existence we
have served 40 families, half who have found long term
places to live and the financial capacity to remain
independent - thanks partially to your help in providing
food and shelter as they find the means to change their
circumstances.
 Emmanuel is now Nut-Free
A number of the kiddos in our
Emmanuel family have life-threatening
allergies to peanuts and nuts....so
PLEASE do not bring food (cookies,
cakes, candies, snacks, salads, etc.) to
church that contain nuts, peanuts or
peanut butter. Kids tend to just grab
goodies...sometimes without their parents being present,
and we do not want any harm to come to anyone.

SCRIP orders will be taken April 2nd and
delivered April 9th. Remember that
Emmanuel profits from your participation
in the SCRIP program but you pay only
face value for any gift cards you
purchase...grocery, gas, and a plethora of other retailers!

available either on the center kiosk in the gathering area
or by asking Laurie Buckett.

gives us all things
richly to enjoy,
nothing is ours.
Nothing really
belongs to us. God
owns everything;
were responsible for how we treat it and what we do
with it. While we complain about our rights here on earth,
the Bible constantly asks, What about your
responsibilities? Owners have rights; stewards have
responsibilities.
We are called as Gods stewards to manage that which
belongs to God. While God has graciously entrusted us
with the care, development, and enjoyment of
everything he owns as his stewards, we are responsible to
manage his holdings well and according to his desires
and purposes.
As Christians in the 21st century, we need to embrace this
larger biblical view of stewardship, which goes beyond
church budgets or building projects, though important; it
connects everything we do with what God is doing in the
world.

friends and loved ones to attend with you.

Tax Deadline is April 18th! AARP Tax-Aide
For some 50 years AARP has been
providing a free tax service.
Originally, the service was intended
for seniors and low-income people
but it serves anyone who wants their
federal and state taxes done by
trained volunteers. Emmanuels Mark
Thompson is in his third year of serving
and has completed more than 60 hours of training EACH
YEAR to learn current and new tax laws and the software
necessary to file accurate tax returns. There are many
locations: close by are the Oconomowoc Senior Center
(Tuesdays) 210 S. Main St. (Call 262-567-3360 for an
appointment), Mukwonago Public Library (Mondays) (call
the library), and the Waukesha Landmark Credit Union
(Tuesdays and Thursdays). Or go online and search for
AARP Taxaide Locator. Be sure to bring Social Security
card(s), driver's license or passport, ALL tax papers (W2s,
1099s, Rent Credit, Property Tax forms, etc.) and (if
possible) a copy of last year's tax return. Call soon to
make an appointment.
Lad Lake Fundraiser: The annual Kettle Classic (run,
walk, bike) event will be Saturday, June 17, 2017. To
register your participation, go to www.ladlake.org. A
brochure has been placed on the kiosk in the gathering
area. Registration deadline is June 2.

I would like to thank my church family for
the many prayers, thoughts and cards
that have lifted my spirits and given me
courage. I must say that all have been
working in my favor. I have had one out
of the four cycles of chemotherapy

Dousman Meals Turns 30 Years Old!

A wonderful brunch was held in fellowship hall on March 16th in celebration of the program
turning 30 years old. THANK YOU to everyone pictured above for volunteering your time and
transportation to make this important ministry happen. The program was the brain child of
Emmanuels retired pastor, Rev. Ralph Schultz and Betty Igl (pictured to the right of Pastor
Nansi). Pastor Nansi is currently the facilitator for the program. The meals are prepared on the
Three Pillars Campus and delivered by volunteers from 5 area churches.
THANK YOU to Sharon Logemann, Kathy Zebrowski, Shirlene Hazelberg, Nancie Gryske,
Charlotte Voigt, Auk Bearda, Francine Langlais, Corrine Mayer, Pastor Nansi and Donna
Newland for making and donating the food for the brunch, serving and cleaning up!
