PSN CASE STUDY _ HIRAT
This is a snapshot on the project effects to the beneficiaries life; hereto for showing the project impacts we
studied one of the approved PSN life as following:
When the PSN project started, the PSN network referred some persons to ARAA for covering under UNHCR
PSN assistance; so, one of them was a person who named XX 75 years old displaced from Ghor to Hirat
province.
XX was a shopkeeper on his origin place and he had good income as he could find 300Afs per a day. This
person married four times with four women that all they are alive but currently one of his wives lives with
him.
Based on his information, he had lost his first wife at Hirat main hospital, about his second wife; a local
commander who named X forced him to divorce his second wife and intimidated him to kill, in this time he
forced to come at Dara-e- Takht village of Cheshte Sharif district of Hirat province , when he was at Dara-e-
Takht another local commander who named XY fine him about 50000Afs and also he was forced to divorced
his third wife, finally he forcedly displaced to Hirat province.
As the Person is an old man (75 years old), when he came to Hirat, didnt had a source of income and his
children had to color shoes at the city with less income.
The PSN network referred him to ARAA and when we went to for his assessment it was very painful for us
because his wife suffered from a disease and his children had to color shoes and also the PSNs one eyes was
blind, due to old age the PSN couldn't do physical hard works and he had to find the cost of living of 7 family
members. His children are eligible to go to school, but due to worst economy he couldnt enroll his children to
school.
After assessment we identified him as a PSN and the PSN approval committee, which was conducted on
04.Oct.2016 at UNHCR approved his case for opening a small
business (grocery shop), nowadays his life become really better as he
has about 200-400 Afs income per a day and the following show are
listed as impacts of UNHCR intervention to the PSN life:
Nowadays he can find enough food for his family members in
dignified manner.
Now he can take a drug prescription for his wife that is really
happy.
He is going to enrol his children to school in upcoming New Year.
Todays he can provide life facility/ property for his family the
income level has 25% increased.
His sanitation situation becomes good.
The PSN thanked from UNHCR PSN project and hoped to be witness
more changes in his life.
