1. Thinking again about the strikes, particularly the Shirtwaist Makers, what
factors contributed to the success or failure of the workers actions? Were the
workers united? If not, what factors divided them?
2. The narrator in Diary of a Shirtwaist Striker undergoes changes in here
thinking about the strike and conditions in general. How did her thinking
change: toward her co-workers? Toward her father and boyfriend? Toward her
employer?
3. Thinking particularly about the lecture notes, what were the conditions that
made winning strikes so difficult for workers? Were there better alternatives
than going on strike?
