Neighborhood Watch Coordinators ...................... nwatch@northbriarcliff.org The articles in this issue describe various local
organizations that run on volunteer energy and draw
your attention to two worthwhile local organizations
that would welcome your involvement. We are fortunate
to have a local park (Mary Scott Nature Park) in our
neighborhood, and our park needs more Friends. Our
local library (Northlake Barbara Loar) also wants more
Friends.
This civic association (NBCA) also needs volunteers.

Please remember that YOU are the North Briarcliff Civic Association. Your Board and Off-Board members are volunteer leaders with the same demands on
their time as any other resident. Board and Off-Board members may develop areas of expertise as they cover issues considered important to OUR community. The
Board can take no action on an issue about which it has no information, insufficient volunteer strength or inadequate funding. The Board may respond to requests
with the goal of increasing the involvement of the individuals concerned. If there is an area which you believe needs more attention, you may know more about
that issue than the Board does. We invite you to follow these issues as they progress and encourage you to become active in the NBCA, as a Board or Off-Board
member, a Committee Chair or member, or a as a volunteer. The Board may offer assistance to residents needing information. Nonetheless, it is incumbent upon
every resident to take responsibility for their own acts, make their own decisions and follow up appropriately.

The beginning of a new year always brings talk about resolutions. A lot of people talk about resolutions that will improve
their health. Some will try to simplify their life. This year, how about trying to combine the two when it related to
cooking? Here are some ideas of what you can do to make healthy and satisfying meals, but with a lot less stress!

In August we had a great turnout at our lower flair forest/cosmos 3rd annual block party. About 30
neighbors and two dogs showed up! We enjoyed chips, salsa, lemonade, appetizers and lots of brownies.
We also collected new email addresses for our neighborhood alerts, passed out safety information, and
became re-acquainted with our neighbors. The kids had fun with sidewalk chalk, bowling, and jump
rope, and we raffled six door prizes for everyone who joined our watch list. The photo shows most of the
people who attended.
We apologize we are not able to exchange or provide additional carts at this time, but the division will
accept requests for smaller roll-carts, additional roll carts, and larger recycling carts on a case by case
basis and cart availability during the 2nd phase of the schedule change, which should start late-December
2015. Residents who want a different size roll-cart or larger cart for recycling will be required to submit an
application that will be available on line mid-December. To get the larger 65 gallon roll cart for recycling,
you will be required to complete and submit an application and a prepayment fee of $15.00 prior to the
delivery of the roll cart. Those residents who desire a second roll cart will be required to participate in the
Curbside Recycling Program and prepay a one-time fee of $15.00 for the additional cart; they also will
see an increase in the Sanitation Assessment fee from $265 to $350 per year.
