Philosophy

of Education

I am a teacher because I have a passion for teaching children to be successful, curious,
life-long learners. I am dedicated to making sure each of my students has a feeling of
inclusion in my classroom. I hold my students accountable to do their personal best, and
I have individualized, high standards for each child, ensuring maximum potential is being
reached.

I believe in developing the whole child. I have seen how deeply diversity and identity
work impacts the classroom community. The classroom and school environment
influences a childs learning dramatically. My role as a teacher in the learning process is
to be a motivator and mentor to my students. Not only will I provide a comfortable
atmosphere of acceptance and encouragement, but children will feel respected,
appreciated, safe, and included.

I will facilitate inquiry based learning and motivate all types of learners through
engaging, hands on lessons and activities by relating information to real life experiences.
I will enhance learning through planning, teaching, assessment, and analysis of my
lessons and of the students work. I will help students master new concepts. I
understand that students each have different abilities. I will support these varying
abilities by providing differentiated lessons and appropriate accommodations to make
sure each student is successful. Then, I will make sure the students know how to
correctly apply these concepts in their own lives. With supervision and praise, my
students will be able to learn and apply knowledge and values.

My goals for teaching are to encourage students to think creatively through inquiry
based lessons and by presenting children with problems that require critical thinking
and collaboration. I want to give students the skills they will need to be life-long
learners. I will shape students curiosity to make them successful problem solvers not
only in school, but also outside of the classroom and in their future.

My classroom is a place where I will bring engaging, hands-on, inquiry based learning to
life. I will create a culture where students feel responsible for their own learning and are
intrinsically motivated to do their personal best. I want students to experience growth
that not only make them more successful students, but curious humans.
