Final Summary/Response

Writing Standard 2
Write informative/explanatory texts to examine and convey complex ideas, concepts, and information
clearly and accurately through the effective selection, organization, and analysis of content.

Pick one of the following prompts and write it on a different Google Doc
1. You are a movie reviewer and have just finished watching Macbeth with Patrick Stewart.
a. Summary: Write a summary of the movie, or as much of the movie as you have seen so
far. The topic sentence must include the text type, title, author, and director.
b. Response: Write a response in which you discuss the movies connection with real life.
For example, you might talk about how the movie demonstrates the ways in which
power motivates people, which we also see in todays political climate.

2. You are an actor who will be playing a character in Macbeth.


a. Summary: Write a summary of that characters role in the play and personality traits.
Your topic sentence must include the text type, title, author, and character.
b. Response: Write a response in which you explain how you will portray the ways power
affects that character.
i. As an actor, how would you demonstrate Lady Macbeths lust for power? Or,
how would you demonstrate the way in which power makes Macbeth a tyrant
and makes him think he can do anything to get what he wants?

3. You are a used car salesman and are selling a car.


a. Summary: Write a summary of the car of what kind of shape the car is in and what has
happened to the car. Your topic sentence must include the car make, model, and year.
b. Response: Convince me to buy the car.

4. You are a novelist writing to a publisher to convince the publisher to publish your novel.
a. Summary: Write a basic summary of your novel. In the topic sentence you must include
your name, the publishers name, and the title of your book.
b. Response: Convince the publisher why they should publish your book. Maybe your book
will change the world, help others, or provide escapism. Why does your book deserve
to get published?
