19 On March 2, 2017, the Court held a status conference with the parties. Pursuant to
20 discussions during the conference,
21 IT IS HEREBY ORDERED that:
22 1. A Status Conference is set for April 18, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. in Courtroom
23 602, Sandra Day OConnor U.S. Federal Courthouse, 401 W. Washington St., Phoenix,
24 Arizona 85003-2151, to address the adequacy of MCSOs supervision of any officers
25 requiring supervisory intervention and the Sheriffs proposals for dealing with any issues
26 of institutional bias. The Sheriff shall distribute his proposals to the parties and the
27 Monitor sufficiently in advance of the hearing so that the parties may evaluate and
28 discuss the Sheriffs proposal(s) prior to the hearing.

1 2. Not later than March 10, 2017 Sheriff Penzone will file his notice with the
2 Court as to whether he intends to assert all or any part of the two pending motions (Docs.
3 1878 and 1884). By that same date counsel for former Sheriff Arpaio, former Chief
4 Deputy Sheridan, and Lieutenant Sousa shall indicate whether his clients intend to assert
5 standing to urge the motions in whole or in any part thereof. Any part of the motions that
6 the above parties or persons desire to assert shall be identified with specificity.
7 3. Any parties or non-parties asserting the right to urge the motions or parts
8 thereof and the Plaintiffs and Plaintiff-Intervenor shall respond to the Courts January 13,
9 2017 inquiry (Doc. 1923) by March 28, 2017. Neither the Plaintiff nor the Plaintiff-
10 Intervenor need to respond to the Courts inquiry if they choose not to do so.
11 4. If former Sheriff Arpaio, former Deputy Chief Sheridan or Lieutenant Sousa
12 assert standing to bring the motions, they will bear the burden of establishing such
13 standing. They shall file a brief in which they set forth the legal arguments which they
14 believe establish such standing by March 23, 2017. Any party desiring to respond to
15 such an assertion shall file their response by April 13, 2017. A reply, if any, shall be due
16 on or before April 27, 2017.
