Instant TV lets you capture video in VCD, SVCD or DVD video formats
you can easily and quickly archive your TV shows to disk. Instant TV
captures video in the correct format so you dont have to waste time
converting the video before you burn to disk. And if you use CD-RW or
DVD+RW/DVD-RW disks you can record direct to disk. Now you can
easily create your library of TV shows on disk that you can playback on
the home DVD player.
T h e I nstant T V Hardware:
USB Port - The USB Connection for this product is for USB 2.0

from the Instant TV device as un-compressed RAW (YUV) video. Your
PC and the Video@Home software will do the work to convert the video
stream into VCD, SVCD or DVD video files.
6
RCA Video In - Use the supplied A/V cable to connect other video
sources to this video input jack.
S-Video In - If you have video sources with an S-Video output, you can
connect an S-Video cable (not supplied) to Instant TV to capture from
S-Video sources. Generally S-Video provides improved video quality over
RCA (composite) video sources.
7
Please follow the steps as outlined below:
Install Drivers
1.) Insert the Instant TV CD into your
Windows XP CD-ROM drive.
2.) Double Click the Drivers button on the
Launch screen.
3.) During the Driver install process an
update from Microsoft for your Windows
XP system will also be installed (Fig. 1),
if it is not already present on your
system. Fig. 1
4.) If this Microsoft patch is installed, you will be asked to re-boot your
PC. If the patch is already present on your system, this step is by-
passed and the install process goes very quickly.
8
Installing the Video@Home2 software
1.) Insert the USB Instant TV CD into your CD-Rom Drive
2.) Click the Video@Home 2 button on the launch screen.

5.) Start the Video@Home 2 application by double clicking this icon.
6.) The complete guide to Video@home 2 can be found later in this
User Guide.

Video@Home 2 application any time, as long as the
Video@Home TV Scheduling icon is present in the icon tray on your
Windows desktop.
T/S Time Shift Mode - Pressing the T/S button will put you into
the Time-Shift mode in Video@Home. When you are in the
Time-Shift mode you can pause, rewind and fast forward through TV
shows. The Time-Shift mode creates a TV recording buffer that allows

Customize Settings
Settings for Ulead Video@Home are provided here in several categories
for you to choose from.
Preferences
General
When first time using Ulead Video@Home, it is recommended to select
Display confirmation message after capturing. So, it is easy to know
which folder stores captured video or image files.
18
Record
You can specify a video file format for recording by choosing an existing
preset, or create your own or by adding a new preset. Selecting Use
Disc-Direct* lets you record video directly onto a disc instead of writing
to the hard drive. Select Use Preview mode if you want to use the video
format available from your Instant TV.
Time-Shift
This determines the video file format for Time-Shift recording. You can
also add your own presets. Also, Time-Shift recycle buffer sets the
video recording cache length. Select this option only when you want to
use the cache as the recorded video file, because it only records the
video previous shown (as compared to the current playback point) at a
fixed amount of time you specify.
19
Skin
You can select your preferred Control Panel.
Scheduled recording
Scheduled recording lets you create a list of all the TV programs
you want to record before they start broadcasting. This mechanism
provides hassle-free convenience just as you would work with a
conventional VCR.
Notes:
You must leave your PC and Instant TV on, so scheduled recording can be active
even if youre out.
Before scheduled recording starts, if you want to temporarily close Ulead
Video@Home, you must right-click the Ulead Video@Home Scheduling wizard icon
(located on the Windows task bar) and set the time for Ulead Video@Home to
automatically open before recording starts.
While scheduled recording is active, you cannot switch to another TV channel in Ulead
Video@Home.
The minimum recording time is 30 seconds; maximum 12 hours for MPEG.
20
TV program list shows all the scheduled recording programs. Click Add,
Edit, or Delete for adjustment as needed. By default, Record is selected.
This means that recording is enabled. Selecting Time-Shift means that
time-shift recording is enabled.
21
Scheduled recording with EPG
Ulead Video@Home can automatically create a scheduled recording
task when you have access to an EPG (Electronic Program Guide) file.
Before doing so, right-click the Ulead Video@Home Scheduling wizard
icon (located on the Windows task bar) and select File Associations
to check if the EPG file you will be using is associated with Ulead
Video@Home.
Note: Available EPG file type may vary depending on the country and service provider.
22
Video Color Manager
This determines the video color for both viewing and recording.
TV Channel Manager

23
Watching TV
After you setup the TV channels in TV Channel Manager, you can now
watch TV. Click Source to make sure that the currently selected input
source is TV Tuner and the playback audio input is correctly selected.
To watch TV:
Use the remote control that comes with your Instant TV.
Click the TV channel number on the numeric pad. (To switch to a
channel number 100 or above, click 100 and the last two digits. For
example, click 100, 0, 2 to switch to Channel 102; to switch to a
channel number below 10, click 0 and the channel number. For
example, click 0 and 2 to switch to Channel 2.)
Click Channel Up/Down.
Click Last Viewed Channel to toggle between the current channel and
the previous one you selected.
Click the Time-Shift status bar, or use the navigation controls during
time-shift recording.

Mono, and different audio languages such as the SAP (Secondary Audio Program)
broadcast on the same channel.
Closed Caption and Teletext in the right-click menu show built-in subtitles.
To watch DV:
1. Switch your DV camcorder to the VCR/VTR mode, and then click Yes
when you see the following message.
24
2. The DV source is ready. An example is shown below.
25
To create a playlist:
1. Click Playlist.
2. Click Create Playlist to add video files by using the left pane to locate
the folder(s) containing the file(s) you want to play.
3. Select the file(s) from the upper pane and click Add or Add All to
insert selected files to the playlist. When youre done, click OK.
26
5. The playlist starts playing. Click Play to resume; Playlist to select another
playlist; and Stop to return to the previously selected input source.
Note:
If youre using an FAT32 drive for video capturing, the maximum file size of each
captured video file is 4 GB. Fortunately, Ulead Video@Home automatically continues
recording by creating a new video file without causing any interruption. That is, when
you use the Ulead Video@Home playlist to play back these video files later, playback is
continuous and you wont feel that actually more than one video file is playing.
Standard recording
This is the normal recording command, making you record video instantly
while youre watching it.
27
3. When recording is in progress, click Pause to stop recording
temporarily or click Stop to cease recording.
4. Enter the video file name and click OK to save the video. (Clicking
Discard does not create any video file.) A video file and a playlist file
(*.uvh) will be created. An associated thumbnail is also created in the
Video folder of the Media Library.
Note: Step 4 is available only when you select Display confirmation message after
capturing in Preferences.
Time-Shift recording
Time-shift recording breaks the limit of conventional linear recording by
recording the video contents you have watched to the hard drive. Thus,
whenever you are recording or simply watching TV/video, you can freely
replay or jump around the recorded video contents while recording is still
in progress!
Notes:
Step 4 is available only when you select Display confirmation message after
capturing in Preferences.
Time-Shift recording is not available when AVI is selected as the video format.
28
1. Backward Jumper
2. Green Time-Shift status bar
3. The cursor changes to a hand shape when you move the mouse over the Time-Shift
status bar. This indicates that you can click any point on the status bar to view the
recorded content.
4. The red Time-Shift status bar indicates the current recording buffer.
5. Forward Jumper
6. Playback speed notch
Media Library
Media Library lets you easily manage captured video and image files with
a variety of functions. The left pane has three folders to store captured
files using standard recording, time-shift, and snapshot respectively.
Available files are shown in thumbnails. A right-click menu is also
available. You can select multiple files at a time.
Notes:
The burning function is available for video files only.
Depending on the Ulead Video@Home version you purchase, a video editing button
may be available in the Media Library.
29
Burn video files to disc
With Ulead Video@Home, you can directly burn video files to a disc.
30
3. Click Write.
4. After the burning progress is complete, you can continue to burn other
files or click Cancel to exit.

In addition to recording to the hard drive, Ulead Video@Home lets you
directly record the TV program or video youre currently watching to a disc.
To perform Disc-Direct:
1. Click Video Format and select VCD, SVCD, or DVD.
2. In the right-click menu, select Disc-Direct to start recording.
3. Click Stop to cease recording. To return to the normal hard drive
recording mode, click HDD/Disc.
