serve at easter
Serving at Easter (April 16) is an incredible opportunity
to welcome guests and visitors who don't have a church
home into our church family, and show them the grace
of Jesus Christ. We want to create a warm, welcome
and joyful celebration at the Dr. Phillips Center for the
Performing Arts, and we'd love for you to be part of the
team! Sign up at fpco.org/host.

notes
As the symbols on the cross, the instrument of execution,
speak forth this morning, we are once again reminded of
the cruelty, pain, and incomprehensible love expressed by
Christ on that instrument of death. With the crown of thorns,
the robe, the nails, the money bag, and the whip, we are
confronted with the reality of a loving Savior who suffered
unimaginably on our behalf. Though we see these objects
hanging on a cross in our Sanctuary, similar pieces were
used in an actual event that took place in human history.
We can become somewhat numb to the truth of the torture
and look at it as something horrible that happened a long
time ago. But the sting of Peters denial was as cutting to the
psyche as the tearing of flesh by the whip. With repentant
hearts, weve come to worship our gracious Lord this day,
realizing that we too have been Peter at weak moments in
our lives. - Dr. Dan Sharp
