The D Value is a parameter of the trailer coupling to the thrust on drawbar. It is a calculated comparative The V value in combination with the Dc value form the
value between tractor and trailer/TC (moved weight), and can be calculated by the following formula: vertical stress by the CAT:
a) Tractor with Drawbar Trailer: b) Tractor with Central Axle Trailer (CAT):
permis. GVW (Tractor) x permis. GVW (Trailer) permis. GVW (Tractor) x permis. GVW (CAT) (Loading area)2
D [kN] = g x Dc [kN] = g x V [kN] = a x x permis. GVW (CAT)
permis. GVW (Tractor) + permis. GVW (Trailer) permis. GVW (Tractor) + permis. GVW (CAT) (Length Drawbar to axlecentre)2
The calculated value should be equal or smaller The calculated value should be equal or smaller The calculated value should be equal or smaller than the V
than the D value of the TC (g = acceleration of than the Dc value of the TC. value of the TC (a = compared acceleration in the coupling point
gravity in m/s2). in m/s2).
The drawbar load is the vertical stress by the CAT at the coupling spot. The maximum possible static drawbar load is 10 % of GVW of the CAT or 1,000 kg (the smaller
value is essential, higher values are possible). The drawbar load should be 4 % of the CAT weight to avoid negative loads.
