The Scotties will be hosting a track & field meet
featuring teams from eastern Montana this Saturday,

National Weather Service in Glasgow:
A hardware upgrade is being done at the
NWS Glasgow radar from Mar 30-Apr 1. This
means there will be NO radar data during that
time.
We have some rainfall expected Thursday
afternoon through Friday in the region, but
wed rather see the radar down with rainfall
than with severe weather season (our original
upgrade date was July 9th).
We could use your eyes in the sky to let us
know when its raining, and where just to keep
track of whats happening.
We do have satellite based precipitation
estimates as well as neighboring radars showing
some information on our border areas but your
reports help verify it all.

In 24 of the nations 50
states at least half of the babies
born during the latest year on
record had their births paid
for by Medicaid, according to
the Kaiser Family Foundation.
New Mexico led all
states with 72 percent of the
babies born there in 2015
having their births covered by
Medicaid.
New Hampshire earned
the distinction of having
the smallest percentage of
babies born on Medicaid.
In that state, Medicaid paid
for the births of 27 percent
of the babies born in 2015.
Virginia and Utah tied for the
next to last position, with 31
percent of the babies born on
Medicaid.
However, according to
KFF, some of the nations
most populous states shared
the distinction of having 50
percent or more of the babies
born there born on Medicaid.
A study published by
the journal Womens Health
Issues in 2013 looked at
births covered by Medicaid
in the years 2008, 2009, 2010.
The report said it was trying
to establish a baseline for
Medicaid-covered birth
before the Affordable Care

The weather radar used by the National Weather
Service Forecast Office in Glasgow, Montana will
be down for three days for technicians to install an
important technological upgrade. Work began this
morning and is expected to be completed on Saturday,
April 1st with the radar returning to service by late
afternoon.
We are aware that rain is forecast on Thursday and
Friday, but hazardous impacts are not expected. With
that said, reports from weather spotters will be crucial
during this time to assist Weather Service personnel in
keeping current with the weather. Glasgow/Fort Peck Chapter

A crew will install a new signal processor, which
replaces obsolete technology, improves processing
speed and data quality, provides added functionality,
and increases IT security.
This is the first of four major upgrades, known
as service life extension projects, planned in the next
five years to replace and refurbish major components
of the 20 year old WSR-88Ds and to keep the radars
operational into the 2030s.
The $150 million dollar investment is being made
by the three organizations that use these radars, the
NOAA National Weather Service, United States Air
Force and Federal Aviation Administration.
The three other service life extension projects
include refurbishing the transmitter, pedestal, and
equipment shelters. The tri-agency Radar Operations
Center, which supports the radars, estimates it will take
about 10 months to upgrade the signal processor on all
159 operational WSR-88Ds.
