CAESAR NEUTRAL FILE VERSIONS

Confirm Version of AutoPIPE (Help> About) and version of CAESAR file

that can be imported.

TRANSFERING CAESAR MODEL TO AUTOPIPE

Generating Caesar cii file in Caesar v5.0

Open Caesar and go to the Tools menu

Page | 3
Convert Caesar *.C2 (v5) or
*._a (pre v5) Caesar file to
ii

Click Browse button to

open dialog below to
select the Caesar input
file (*.C2 or *._a)

Page | 4
Note: The following error may occur when a CAESAR *.CII file is opened in AutoPIPE:

forrtrl: severe (64) - Input conversion error

Older builds of CAESAR 5.3 have an issue with $CONTROL section - where location of
a variable was incorrect. This is a known issue - that is also mentioned in release notes of
CAESAR. Install latest SP2 of CAESAR 5.3 before exporting CII file.

Page | 5
In AutoPIPE

V8i v.9.4 and higher: File > Import> Caesar (*.cii), Select the cii file

V8i v.9.3 and lower: File > Open > Caesar (*.cii), Select the cii file

AutoPIPE V9.2 or later

Select the AutoPIPE input working units

Page | 6
AutoPIPE Pre-V9.0

The matching Caesar Units file must be selected

Autopipe Units can be any

from drop down list.
Caesar units file is *.c2u
which must match the units
at the bottom of the cii file

Caesar units file is

SIMM.c2u matches
the units at the
bottom of the cii file

Page | 12
Note: Typically in Caesar up to 9 displacements are combined with thermal
loadings in the Caesar analysis module. Hence these are defined T1 to T9 in the
CIIMAP file. But these can be changed to any AutoPIPE load case e.g. first 6 cases
maybe thermal and last 3 cases may be seismic E1 to E3 as below.

All displacements are imported as XTRA data > imposed displacements and not as
thermal anchor movements

TRANSLATION LIMITATIONS

Caesar neutral file format (*.cii) does not support the following:

Load combinations
Beams
Hydrodynamic data
Point Static Earthquake Factor
User Nozzle Flexibility
User Weld Efficiency
Flanges not supported in Caesar mapped to RIGID Options or
Valve
Soil Spring data
Wind loading data
Only 9 displacements in Caesar
Only 3 seismic cases (UDL g) in Caesar

COMPARATIVE RESULTS

Sample Model has comparative Non-Linear Thermal Results within 6%.

AutoPIPE has more advanced non-linear analysis engine with load
sequencing and expect more accurate non-linear results than Caesar.
