The purpose/aim of this title project is to analyze the economic influence on the mine
operations of consumable materials in open-pit mine, how they affect the availability of
equipment, referring to the shorter times of maintenance as the main factor of loss of time
and economy.
To carry out this analysis, we used reports from 2016 of the maintenance of the
Chuquicamata mine and also management reports of the Radomiro Tomic mine, both
belong to CODELCO's northern division.
The number of unscheduled detentions, total time detentions per month and year, time
taken by minor maintenance, average time of minor maintenance, average time between
failures, and average time to repair were determined in this study. In addition to the
economic importance of these materials for the company.
The main problems presented were determined and the elements that produced more
detentions, longer detention times, establishing the importance of these for continuous
production free of problems, which were totally avoidable.
In conclusion, these materials are of great economic importance for any company as well as
for the time of detentions produced by wear or failures.
