The Femisism : The Equality of Gender

In this era, many changes occur and it has developed in community as well, such
as in the technology, the government system, even the position of women in the world.
Talking about the position of women , it can not be exluded from Feminism. Feminism
discusses about the equality of gender between men and women, it relates to the topic
The Feminism in International Relation. In this topic discuss about the definition, the
history, and the feminist or women who have the role in this movements.

Feminism is the theory of the political, economic, and social equality of the
gender. The equality in this theory means there is no different between men and women,
which both of them have equal rights and opportunities. As we know, this statement had
been included in the constitution about the equivalence and the fairness of the gender is
relation between women and men as the equal partners to get the fair treatment for
access the resources, controling, participated, and to achieve a benefit of the
development. But the feminism was not to against men, it for maintain the womens
rights.

According to Magie Humm and Rebecca Walker, the history of feminism can be
divided into three waves. The first feminist wave was in the nineteenth and early
twentieth centuries, the second was in the 1960s and 1970s, and the third extend from
the 1990s to the present. Feminism has altered predominant prespectives in a wide range
of areas within western society, changing from culture to law. A lot of feminist activist
have campaigned for womens legal rights to bodily, integrity and an otonomy. During
much of this history, most feminist movements and theories had leaders who were
predominant middle-class white women from Western Europe and North America
however, at least since Sojourner Truths speech to American feminist, women of other
races have proposed alternative feminisms because of her statement, many women from
different background or races participated in this feminist movements including Black
Feminist, such as Angela and Alice Walker as the represents for black women.

Feminism theory emerged from the feminist. it was shared and developed by
those women who have the role in this movements. First is Simone De Beauvoir, she
was an outspoken political activist, writer and social theorist, second is Eleanor
Roosevelt, she was the first lady to take on responsibilities beyond merely hosting and
entertaining in the white house. and third is Coco Chanel, she was the owner of
CHANEL, she brought the comfort of mens apparel to womens fashion. Besides of
those women, there was plenty of feminist even until now to bring the fairness for
women in the world.

In conclusion, feminism is the theory that examining about the equality of


degrees, it explain if women and men have no different, both of them have the equal
rights and opportunities.
