Cell Key
Nucleus- Represented by the light blue half sphere; the nucleus is the control center it
contains the DNA in the cell.
Cell Membrane- Represented by the dark blue base; is the outer coating of the cell that
protects the cell.
Rough Endoplasmic Reticulum Represented by the lime green pipe cleaner; the Rough
ER is located close to the nucleus with ribosomes attached to it. Also they package
proteins and send them to the Golgi apparatus.
Smooth Endoplasmic Reticulum- Represented by the yellow pipe cleaner; the Smooth ER
has no ribosomes located on it, and it makes lipids.
Golgi Apparatus- Represented by purple pipe cleaner; the Golgi Apparatus this is where
lipids and proteins are unpackaged, made sure that they are built correctly, repackaged,
and then sent to their final location.
Vesicle- Represented by the gold pom poms; Stores and moves the materials throughout
the cell organelles and the surface of the cell.
Mitochondria- Represented by the orange oval; the Mitochondria breaks down the sugars
into energy, that energy is then stored in the ATP.
Lysosome- Represented by the green pom pom; the Lysosome digests the food particles,
wastes, and the parts of the cell. They are also vesicles filled with digestive enzymes.
Vacuole- Represented by the blue pom pom; the Vacuole are sack like that stores water,
salts, proteins, and carbohydrates.
Ribosomes- Represented by the tiny red pom poms; Ribosomes are where proteins are
assembled
Nucleolus- Represented by the purple half sphere on top of the nucleus; is the center of
the nucleus, its the place where ribosomes are formed.
Cytoplasm- Represented by the light purple that surrounds all the organelles; the
cytoplasm is the jelly like substance that the organelles are surrounded in.
Cytoskeleton- Represented by light brown bundle of pipe cleaners; the cytoskeleton
keeps the cell together so it does not fall apart.
