Lesson Title: Pick-A-Path using multiplication and division

Grade Level: 3rd

Subject: Mathematics
Description of Learning Goals, Standards, Objectives
CC/GPSs: MGSE3.OA.1 Interpret products of whole numbers, e.g.,
interpret 5 7 as the total number of objects in 5 groups of 7
objects each. For example, describe a context in which a total
number of objects can be expressed as 5 x 7.
MGSE3.OA.2 Interpret whole number quotients of whole
numbers, e.g., interpret 56 8 as the number of objects in each
share when 56 objects are partitioned equally into 8 shares (How
many in each group?), or as a number of shares when 56 objects
are partitioned into equal shares of 8 objects each (How many
groups can you make?).

Assessment Plan: As the students move through the paths, their final number will increase
if the have an understanding of the operations.

Description of Activities with Technology and Materials


Activity Design:

I will assign each child a number or symbol. We

subtraction, multiplication and division. We will
discuss which equation left the greatest answers
and why.

Once the student understand the simple


equations. I will break them up into to two
groups. Within a timed interval, the groups will

Using the Pick-A-Path app, student will have to
complete level one which requires them to use
the operations ( addition, subtraction,
multiplication, and division) to come up with the

At the end off each path, each student will record


their final number on the classroom chart.

Students will have to create their own path for


homework with an answer key. They will
exchange paths with their classmates in the
following class session.

My lesson plan allows for a healthy amount


screen time, but it still includes a social
component.

With more time, I would create a life size


map(path) of my artifact that my students could
actually walk on.

The technology tests the concepts I am covering


in my lesson.
