To the Members of the Selection Committee,

I am writing in support of Ms. Jaydeen Yonekura who is applying for a teaching position at your school.

Currently, Ms. Yonekura is a student teacher enrolled in the Masters of Arts in Teaching Program at Chaminade
University, Hawaii. I have worked with Ms. Yonekura from January 2017 to present in the capacity of her university
supervisor as she completes her final requirements in attaining her Masters of Arts in Teaching degree. Ms.
Yonekura has completed all of her student teaching requirements and has demonstrated a strong passion for teaching
and learning. During the student teaching observation periods, evidence of planning and collaboration with her
cooperating teacher are visible. From my observations, Ms. Yonekuras classroom practices, communication with
colleagues and students, and her work ethics are evidence of her dedication and commitment to education and to the
well-being of her students and their families.

One of the requirements of the student teaching program is to design and implement a solo unit plan based upon the
Common Core State Standards, formative and summative assessments, and the State of Hawaii Department of
Education Student Learner Outcome expectations. Ms. Yonekuras classroom environment and instructional
practices are an indication of articulated expectations resulting in a learning environment that fosters a high level of
student engagement and learning.

Ms. Yonekura continuously seek to improve her practices as an educator because of her collaborative nature and the
desire to do what is right for students and the school organization. Entering a new teaching situation can pose many
challenges; however, I believe Ms. Yonekuras professional demeanor will cause her to reach out for support in
meeting the school and classroom expectations.

If selected, Ms. Yonekura will promote the ideals and beliefs of your institution because of her commitment to
providing the best education possible for her students. From my interactions with Ms. Yonekura, her reflective
processes, communication skills, and work ethics will contribute to the success of your school.

Sincerely,

Bernice Kihara
University Supervisor
