FALL 2017
FCS Education Composite (B.S.)

Dear Hiring Manager,

I am excited to teaching Family and Consumer Science and I am looking forward to the possibility of
joining the teachers at your school as a student teacher. I have had many opportunities to develop and
practice family and consumer science skills and teaching skills. I have a natural desire to help others and
excel as a team player. My prior teaching experiences will allow me to quickly adapt to and become a
contributing member of your school community.

I worked as T.A. for several sewing classes where I gained experience in preparing and teaching lessons,
and gained understanding of the paper work involved in grading and maintaining class record. As a T.A.
I also had extensive experience working with students one on one helping them finish projects and
develop their skills. Through several college courses as well as volunteer opportunities I had while
serving a volunteer representative I have developed the skills to create a lesson plan and to tailor lesson
plans for the needs of those I am teaching. As a secretary and substitute teacher for Harmony Education
Services I learned to be flexible, to work as a team member to make sure that students and parents
needs were met. As a social dance teacher for Polar Star Academy I worked with 12-14 year olds to
create a friendly environment where they could practice social skills and learn the basics of dance. Also
I have a great working knowledge of sewing, and have used this skill in the work force. I completed an
internship at Ye Olde Costume Shoppe, where I made, altered and organized costumes, as well as
learning how to use online resources to extend business.

My foundational skills in FCS and teaching, along with my ability to care about students and my
enthusiasm for FCS will allow me to helps students excel in their school work and prepare for life. I
believe that I would fit well at your school and be a great asset there. I hope to be able to talk with you
and answer any questions you have about how I would help your school.

Sincerely,
Elizabeth Hampton
