ButIthinkthemoderatingdecisions/styleonthissubdonotseemwellthoughtoutastothepotentialdetriments.
Oneofthebiggestappealsofredditisthatthecommentsectionisgreatfordiscussion&disseminatinginformation,
andthismoderationstyleiscompletelydestroyingthat.
Thiswouldthencreate100sofremovalcommentsinthreads,allofwhichwouldspawnofftopicdiscussionsabout
whetherornotweshouldhaveremovedthecommentatall,whethertheyagreewiththerule,whethertheyagree
withthecommentremoval,etc.It'sjustnotatallfeasiblemanyofourthreadsareprettyunwieldyasitis.
Thosecommentnotificationswouldbeautomaticallyhiddenanyway,soitdoesnotbogdownanything.Andit
shouldn'tspawnofftopicdiscussionsanymorethancurrentlyaspeoplewouldstillnotbeabletoseethecomment
thatwasdeleted.
Wewantthreadstodiscussthescienceitself,notgetboggeddowninexplanationsanddebatesaboutrules
Those/r/neutralXsubshavenosuchproblem.Theycreatestickiedthreadstodiscusstheruleswiththecommunity.
Inmyopinionyouguysseemtocomeupwithsolutionstoproblemsthatdon'texist.

thousandsofcomplaintsthatamountto"whywasmycommentremoved"makesmodmailunusable.99.9%ofthe
timeifyouseeyourcommentisremoved,youglanceatourrules,youcanbeprettysurewhyyourcommentwas
pulled.Ifyouaren't,thencontactus.Simple.
2)backintheday,therewasanautosentnotificationofcommentremovals.Therewasnowaytoprevedthatauto
notificationfromsending100noticesifyouhadcommented100timesinaremovedthread,andweheardfromvery
angryusersthatthesenotificationswerespammingtheirinboxesandmakingthemunusable.Soweturneditoff.
Ourmoderationstylecomesfrommanydecadesofcollectiveexpertisemoderatingsubswithmillionsofsubscribers.
Theproblemslargesubswithstrictrulesfacearenotthesameasproblemstinysubsliker/microbiomeface(e.g.you
have4moderators,wehaveover1400).Ourmoderationisconstantlydebated,adjusted,andmodifiedtoimproveour
abilitytomeetourmissionofcreatingaforumforthescientificdiscussionofnewpeerreviewedresearch.
