Team-Building Challenge Camporee

June 9-11, 2017
Lutherdale Campground, Elkhorn, WI

Dear MA1 Area - Troop Leaders,

In 2016, we had a very successful MA1 Team Building Challenge event,

held at Lutherdale Camp in Elkhorn. After extremely positive feedback,
and several recent requests from girls who attended last year,
I am happy to announce we will be holding this MA1 event again
on June 9th-June 11th, 2017.
Team Purple having fun after the Olympics.

This event is geared toward meeting sister Girl Scouts from other MA1 troops through SWAP exchanges and teaming up
for an Olympic-style challenge event. Girls then work with their own troops at team building skills on the low-ropes
team building challenge course. They encourage each other as they scale the climbing tower with optional zip line off
the top, and cheer as they bravely reach new heights on the high ropes course. Enjoy some time outdoors canoeing,
playing hop-soccer or other games with new scout friends, and share SMores around the campfire before spending the
night in cozy cabins with your troop.

If your troop is interested in attending, please read through the attached information. Reserve your lodging now.
Reserve your Event Package as soon as possible. Then prepare for the fun by coming up with ideas and creating SWAPS
before the event. (More information will follow on SWAPS once we know the total number of girls attending. Rough
estimate would be 10 swaps per girl to give new friends.)

I hope we will see you at this years MA1 Team Building Challenge. It is a fun-filled weekend that is so close to home!
There will be lots of cheering, great inspiration from courageous girls, and plenty of laughing and dancing.

ARE YOU UP FOR THE CHALLENGE?
If your troop is interested in attending, please complete the TWO steps below as soon as possible to secure your spot

1 Step 1. Reserve your lodging.

There are currently 4-5 cabins available, but these may book up fast, so reserve your spot now! Each cabin is divided in
two, with sleeping quarters for 10-12 people on each side. One troop typically fits on each side. Modern cabin options
have a shared bathroom facility connecting the two sides with restroom and shower stalls. Rustic cabins have a
shared bathroom facility in the cabin, but would require use of the shower stalls in the adjacent meeting hall.

1) Contact Kathy at Lutherdale @ (262) 742-2352 with the following

information and she will walk you through the options to get you
started:
Troop number and scout level.
How many girls will be attending.
How many adults will be attending (must meet GS girl/adult
ratios for overnight trips with approved background checks)
What time will your troop arrive/depart?
- Friday by 5:30 to include dinner/Sunday before noon.
- Friday after dinner/Sunday before noon. Above: Brownies work through a team building challenge.
- Saturday 8am/Sunday before noon.

Select your challenge course options:

- **All scouts should participate in the low-ropes team building challenge course.**
- Does your troop also want to climb the tower?
(Recommended for Juniors and up.)
- Does your troop also want to climb the high ropes
course? (Not recommended for Brownies. Older Juniors
and up may enjoy the challenge.)

Would your troop like to also participate in canoeing?

Cost is $60 per hour, 8 canoes available holding
2-3 people per canoe. (Recommended for all levels.)

Juniors climbing the tower and zip-lining off the top (to left).
(Note: Zip-line is optional, if they are feeling brave after they
conquer the tower.)
Pricing for your troop will then be based on the additional challenge course options youve chosen specific for your
troop (tower or ropes). This also gives you some flexibility to accommodate your troops arrival time or financial needs.
One-half deposit required within 2-weeks of initial contract, with balance due by Friday, May 26th.

Sample pricing based on a troop arriving after Dinner on Friday:

Modern Cabin First Night* $35.00 per person

Modern Cabin Second Night 25.00 per person

Meals: Saturday Breakfast 9.00 per person

Saturday Lunch 11.00 per person
Saturday Dinner 13.00 per person
Sunday Breakfast 9.00 per person

Bald Eagle Package which includes

low-ropes, tower, and high ropes 35.00 per scout

Canoeing ($60 per hour) 60.00 per hour

In this example, cost for lodging/meals/activities for 19 girls:

cost per scout = $140**
cost per adult = $102**

*Example above has arrival after dinner Friday for cost savings. Arrival earlier
Friday including dinner would be an additional $13 per person (dinner cost).
**GS Event Package is additional. $140 + $20 event package = $160 total cost for girl for event (based on example above).
2 Step 2. Reserve your Girl Scout Event Package for all campers.

will be worn Saturday at the Olympics
