Teaching Philosophy

Teaching is a lifelong learning process about new philosophies,

strategies, and learning from the parents and community. Learning from
colleagues, and especially learning from the children are also part of the
lifelong learning process. Children have taught me to open my mind and my
heart to the joys and the diversity of ideas in the world. I believe that each
child is a unique individual who needs a secure, caring, and supporting
atmosphere in which to grow and mature emotionally, intellectually,
physically, and socially. It is my desire as an educator to help students meet
their fullest potential in these areas by providing an environment that is safe
and invites a sharing of ideas.

The way that I help others in the classroom is by acting as a guide. I

am a teacher that is responsible, someone to count on, and respect
everyones beliefs. I am a teacher that allows the students to be themselves
and know that they are safe in. It is important for students to study what
they are interested in, however, being able to connect those interest in
physical education is the most important thing that I will do.

As a teacher I help students develop respect for themselves and others

by being open, and sharing ideas. To me as a teacher I believe it is important
for the environment to be safe for the students. When the environment is
safe the students, the students have greater respect for the teacher, their
peers, and the lesson presented in class. I will tell the students what is
expected for them so the students will have goals to reach. In setting fair
and consistent rules initially and stating the importance of every activity,
students are shown respect for their presence as well as their participation.

The assessment that I have for the students depends on the grade. To
me in the classroom the assessment will be based on interactions with
others, performance, pre-test, post-test, and peer assessment. It is important
in my teaching for me to give the students positive feedback that will lead to
a positive response in the assessment created. The assessment will be a
rubric on the cues that I teach in class and how the cues apply to the end
result of the task being performed.

To me, teaching provides an opportunity for continual learning and

growth. One of my hopes as an educator is to instill a love of learning in my
students, as I share my own passion for learning with them. I will learn from
the students when I get to know each of them. I will teach them as they are
teaching me. I am a future educator and will always strive to be the best
educator that I can be. I have to set my own goals and needs for myself to be
successful as a teacher.
