Since 1937 We Celebrated A Criminal

Many people wouldn't think twice about celebrating a criminal, yet Americans still

do. Christopher Columbus Day is celebrated on the second Monday of every October in

the United States. However, recently, it has sparkle many debates due to the fact that

people are uncovering trouble truths about his life, such as that he was a rapist,

murderer, and slave trader. Due to the fact that Christopher Columbus was a criminal,

Christopher Columbus Day should not be celebrated.

There are many reasons why not to celebrate Christopher Columbus Day for

example Columbus was a rapist. Him and his people rapped many others even childern.

Instead of celebrating a man who raped and murdered all over the Caribbean,

Americans should be celebrating a man who helped or saved the Natives rather than

killing them. Columbus not only raped Natives he tortured them and basically wiped all

full-blood Natives from existence.

Shockingly Columbus not only tortured Natives he also supervised the selling of

the native girls into sexual slavery. There was also trade, were children would be sent to

a place to be sold for sex. Thats crazy!! Furthermore, there were stories of his men who

were chained together by the necks. This was all a major problem, leading to my final

reasoning.

Columbus and his stared international slave trade. He enslaved Natives and

killed anyone who resisted, leading to over more than 50,000 Natives committing

suicide to avoid being enslaved. By 1555 there was zero full-blood Natives left. Once

the native population died off he started trading African slaves.

On the other hand Christopher Columbus did expose the United States to many

other people around the world. Which lead to a totally new population of people to grow

and live in United States. Even if he exposed the United States to outsiders he still was

the reasoning for the population of Natives to die and also is the reason for starting

international slave trade.

Do you still think Columbus Day should still be celebrated? With all my the

reasonings that were stated previously many may believe that Christopher Columbus

Day should not be celebrated. Columbus has done so much harm to the Natives he

raped and murdered many, sold people for sex and him and his people started

international slave trade. There many more reasons to say why not to celebrate this

day, but those are some reasonings and explanations why not to.
