Objective: Students will chant and sing the beginning of Hello Goodbye
Students will perform the beginning of Im a believer with added dynamics.
State Standard: 117.208 (c) (3) (A) demonstrate, alone and in groups, characteristic vocal or
instrumental timbre;
(B) perform music alone and in groups, demonstrating appropriate physical fundamental
techniques such as hand position, bowing, embouchure, articulation, and posture;
(C) perform independently and expressively, with accurate intonation and rhythm, developing
fundamental skills and appropriate solo, small ensemble, and large ensemble performance
techniques
Materials: Piano, computer, internet, music
Grade: 6th grade

Warm up:
1. Sing No no no no no (S f m r d) Decending from D Major.
2. Sing Zingamama(x4) Zing, Zing, Zing. (S f m r d, S, d) Ascending from D Major
3. Sing He He He! Hahaha! Hohohohoho! (D M S, D M S, D M S M D) Ascending from
D Major
4. Sing Oo, Oooo Oo (S, SMRD S) Descending from D Major.
Sight Reading
5. Start with having students set the key in solfege (D M S M D s D)
6. Students will study the sight reading for 30 seconds.
a. What is the highest note?
b. What is the lowest note?
7. Students will read through the first time.
8. Go back and work through pitch issues
9. Students will read a second time.
Rhythm
10. Echo clap a few rhythms with students, introducing rhythms from Hello, Goodbye
a. Count the rhythms along with the clapping
b. Write the rhythms from the music on the board
11. After successfully clapping and chanting the rhythm, show the pattern to them on the
board.
a. Students will clap and chant while looking at the rhythm.

12. Students will be asked to point out familiar rhythms on the first two pages.
13. Students will listen to the first part of a recording of Hello, Goodbye, following along
with their part.
14. Echo chant rhythms m. 5-14
a. Fix rhythm mistakes before moving on

16. Review notes from the beginning to m. 13 by singing through with students.
a. Add in Dynamics on long and tied notes.
17. Rehearse problem notes from 17-21

18. Rehearse notes 21-35
a. Add in Dynamics
19. Sing through the beginning to m. 35
Assessment: Students will be able to sing through the notes and rhythms of the beginning of
Hello, Goodbye.
