Our social action campaign is called MORE EQUAL our video production idea was to educate the viewers on
the form of racism that exists in todays society but also on the history that we were never taught about,
focusing on my local area High Wycombe. The making of the social action was challenging but we completed
everything on time due to our consistent planning. The paper work was finished on time and so what the
product, we followed all procedures legally, making sure the music we used as reality free and the footage
we use was referenced and eligible. The specifications were considered though out and we made sure we
stuck to our planning. Our target audience is 10 year olds plus, but mainly focusing on the 10 to 18 range.
We plan to present this video in school assemblies as it is the younger generation that are more
impressionable and open minded so it would be easier to open their eyes to this issue. However we are still
going to upload this video to youtube and find various willing websites that would show it, so as the older
generation can see it as well helping speed awareness.
The next question I ask was Did you learn something from
this documentary? this was to see if it was successful in
educating the viewers only one person said no out of the
responders which is good as it means our social action
was mainly successful is educating the viewers. I also
added a reasoning section the the answer to see what it
was they learnt and most of the what they learnt was
todo with the ancient Egyptians being black which intern
help to prove our point of the lack of education and
knowledge on the positive history of the blacks.
Overall I feel our social action was a success as shown by the feed back; incising the target audience, teaching
them and spreading awareness of this issue. However I feel there are some improvements we could have be
made to add more of an emotional aspect maybe including some stories of racism so as empathy could be
present and people could see how horrible it is. As we many just included facts and didnt have much of an
emotional element. ending When is did come to filming our production we did have come constraints like
finding willing interviewees as we wanted to film members of public in High Wycombe we had to try to find
people that would mind being filmed and talking about race which was harder than we initially thought. We
also need to have and extremely diverse rage of people as to show different views and circumstances making
it even harder to find people I would have liked to get some more interviews but it would have eaten up some
more time. We also did plan to have an interview with the mayor but after speaking with him he said he
wouldnt be able to answer the questions due to his political figure as he has to remain neutral and cant
express an opinion on the matter. We did change the questions for him but he never got back to us in time.
Considering these setbacks we still did a good job producing a social action video to a professional standard;
with crisp footage, professional animations and a initiative style it has begun its informing and change making
mission.
