Our social action campaign is called MORE EQUAL our video production idea was to educate the viewers on
the form of racism that exists in todays society but also on the history that we were never taught about,
focusing on my local area High Wycombe. The making of the social action was challenging but we completed
everything on time due to our consistent planning. The paper work was finished on time and so what the
product, we followed all procedures legally, making sure the music we used as reality free and the footage
we use was referenced and eligible. The specifications were considered though out and we made sure we
stuck to our planning. Our target audience is 10 year olds plus, but mainly focusing on the 10 to 18 range.
We plan to present this video in school assemblies as it is the younger generation that are more
impressionable and open minded so it would be easier to open their eyes to this issue. However we are still
going to upload this video to youtube and find various willing websites that would show it, so as the older
generation can see it as well helping speed awareness.

I created a survey as to find out if our social action

video was successful in fulfilling its goals. My first
question was what age group does this video appeal
to? this was to find out if it was suited from my target
audience and based on the feed back it was. The results
concluded that it was most fit for 15 to 20 year old, who
were in my priority list. It showed that it was not just
suitable for the younger generation but the older ones
too as all boxes above the age of 10 were ticked,
which is what is what I aimed for.

The next question I ask was Did you learn something from
this documentary? this was to see if it was successful in
educating the viewers only one person said no out of the
responders which is good as it means our social action
was mainly successful is educating the viewers. I also
added a reasoning section the the answer to see what it
was they learnt and most of the what they learnt was
todo with the ancient Egyptians being black which intern
help to prove our point of the lack of education and
knowledge on the positive history of the blacks.

How great of an impact does this social action have? was

a question I wanted to be answered on a scale of 0 to 100
so I could visually see how successful it was. Overall it was
rated 93 out of 100 showing that it was a great success
they the audience felt that the content of the social action
had and emotional pull as was convincing. That the
audience now believe that a change needs to be made and
that they would follow or possibly invest in this campaign.
We could have maybe reached that 100 out of 100 by
having some kind of an emotional pull as that was lacking
from out piece and could have made a great difference to
power of our message and allow audience to connect more.
I also wanted to find out how well the message we
wanted to be portrayed was portrayed so I asked the
question Does this video establish the importance of the
issue? to which 100% of the percipients answered yes
show they they all feel an issue was apparent and that
they understand that something needs to be done about
this issue. In the add on to what the issue is, the responses
showed that they understood the true message that there
is a new convert type of racism that is accepted in our
society and that our educational system has only
educated us on the negatives associated with the black
race and how we haven't over come that they were
slaves. It also shows how we achieved this though our
diverse interviews and educational animations that shed
new light on this issue and educated them on the matter.

The animations were a key part of our social action as

they were made to help to explain the information in a
more visual and entertaining way, so I wanted to see
how the audience felt about them. I asked the Do you
think my animations helped to make the narration more
engaging? To which everyone said yes which showed
me that they were successful and achieved what I
wanted. The elaboration on their decisions emphasised
its success as they said that it made it fun to watch and
that it makes more appealing to the younger
generation which is something that we want. The
animations are fun but not childish so everyday one can
watch and learn.

Our team work was what made our production work;

both members, Eddie and I shared the work load
evenly, organising and setting out what each of us
would do, using our initiative along the way. As Eddie
and I were such a small group we were always both
present for our meetings and would discuss what it
was we needed to do. We found that although we
worked well as a team we worked better getting on with some parts separately and then looking over them
once they were finished. This tactic worked perfectly and this team would defiantly work again on future
projects.

Compared to other professional products our video stands well but

there are some differences In Louis Theroux show he has a presenter
that travels round talking to individuals getting different points of
view. Our production isnt as interactive with the public as this is
although we had interviews we has set questions that we would ask
them and didnt work it round individuals so it was less personal as
Louiss.
The structure of our production was similar to Louiss having an intro to
the matter then different section of topics we have our different
animation he has his different families and interviews and ending with
some kind of a synopsis.
The communication the the viewer was also different with Louiss being
much less direct with a few side notes notes as he remains more
neutral, where as out production was very direct talking to the
audience and
informing them on
this particular
matter.

Overall I feel our social action was a success as shown by the feed back; incising the target audience, teaching
them and spreading awareness of this issue. However I feel there are some improvements we could have be
made to add more of an emotional aspect maybe including some stories of racism so as empathy could be
present and people could see how horrible it is. As we many just included facts and didnt have much of an
emotional element. ending When is did come to filming our production we did have come constraints like
finding willing interviewees as we wanted to film members of public in High Wycombe we had to try to find
people that would mind being filmed and talking about race which was harder than we initially thought. We
also need to have and extremely diverse rage of people as to show different views and circumstances making
it even harder to find people I would have liked to get some more interviews but it would have eaten up some
more time. We also did plan to have an interview with the mayor but after speaking with him he said he
wouldnt be able to answer the questions due to his political figure as he has to remain neutral and cant
express an opinion on the matter. We did change the questions for him but he never got back to us in time.
Considering these setbacks we still did a good job producing a social action video to a professional standard;
with crisp footage, professional animations and a initiative style it has begun its informing and change making
mission.
